Just started working on a CF-74ECE03BM. I am looking for any information on the unit. Someone had recently re-imaged it so there is no immediate need for a recovery CD.
It appears that the maximum RAM is 2GB and the CPU is a 2GHz Duo-core. It also appears that this unit will support a luminescent keyboard and I would be interested in locateing one. This particular unit is equipped with a touch-screen. It is presently running XP but I have considered loading Win7 or 8, has anyone had any experience with this?
Does anyone know if this unit will support GPS or if one the the aftermarket GPS boards will work in it?
I do have the manual for it.

That is a 945/950 chipset laptop, it should support 4Gb of ram. The 74 models from the factory don't support the emissive type keyboards, just don't have the power hook up for it. I have seen some pictures where it has been modded in. I have one of these units but don't have cable for the caddy. My two youngest boys are using a Mk3 with 965 chipset/core 2 duo 2.0. It runs windows 7 with out any problems. Hardware wise the Mk1/Mk2 are close to the Mk1 CF-30/19 except in cpu power. The 915 chipsets like one on your CF-29 haven't been playing right on Windows 8 for the right drivers. Work, just stuff like hardware acceleration doesn't. I haven't researched the 945 and 965 chipset yet to see how well they work with 8. The more I look at 8 the more I want to avoid it. I got a taste of it at work because a friend on the rig got a new laptop with it. Just wasn't real impressed with it. Maybe on a new toughbook, but not on an older one.
This model does support WWAN and has bump out on the lid for it. The two my sons use have that. I haven't looked deep inside it but I am sure there is somewhere GPS can be added in. I plan on trying the 20 pin mod on a GPS card I have and testing it out in the WWAN slot. Just haven't got back to that yet.
