I have an odd problem with a CFU1 and Windows update. It always gives an error 80072EFE which googling shows as a network connection error.
The unit connects to the internet with no issues via WiFi (Atheros card), WWAN and Ethernet via the docking unit. Windows update gives the same error on all three connections.
I've reinstalled Win 7 from the Panasonic restore DVD as well as a standard Win 7 install DVD and the CFU1 driver bundle. Always give the same error.
So the strange thing is - if I swap the SSD with one from another CFU1 with Win 7, it works perfectly. This would suggest to me that its not a issue with the unit hardware or its BIOS settings etc. (Putting the non updating SSD into the other CFU1 gives the same 80072EFE error in that unit).
Both CFU1s are identical specced mk2.5s.
Any ideas?

Clone the SSD from the working U1 onto the SSD from the U1 giving error messages

I agree with Springfield.
Take the easy way out.
Are both wifi / network cards the same?
You don't want to try and swap a wifi card in a U1. Been there done that. -
Thanks all. Barrmaley is there a way to copy the driver from the working SSD?
-
Go to control panel > device manager
scroll down to network devices
open it up and write down the name / version of the driver
On "bad" unit go to same place and choose uninstall device / delete driver.
Download the same driver that you saved from "good" unit
Install driver on "bad" unit
reboot and hopefully it will workUNCNDL1 likes this. -
Sorry, I didn't notice you've tested other network connections
Go this way

Simplix pack should do the trick, MS shut down updates for Win7 without SHA-2 support ages ago.

Thanks all for your help. Didn't get anywhere I'm afraid so I've installed the win 10 upgrade and all is working.
Thanks again.
