The title says it all, does CF-WEB184BC vehicle dock not fit CF-19A (mk5)?
I found one for €150, which is IMHO a great price, but the seller told me it wouldn't fit and that I would need the €515 CF-WEB194BC....

I am not sure about that one. I have a early CF-17/M34 dock CF-VEB341. The Mk1 works on it, but Mk2-7 won't. They may have changed something with the pin out. A Mk2-7 won't even boot when it is docked in it. They may have done something similar to the newer CF-19's.

EDIT: Did a little more looking and seen references on the web that CF-WEB184B is for CF-18 Mk1-Mk5 and CF-19 Mk1-Mk3. Also seen listed from the same sites CF-WEB194B is for Mk4-Mk5 only. So????

Thanks. I won't buy it without testing it!

It may have something to do with current draw. I had a Gamber Johnson dock for the CF-29. While the CF-30 and CF-31 both fit, the built-in power supply does not have enough power those laptops and does some self-protection power-cycling thing. A CF-29 works fine though.

Hmmm that might do it indeed. The adapters have the same rating AFAIK, but perhaps the mk4 & mk5 draw more power from it.

FWIW - everything worked on the dock (USB, serial, video out, Ethernet, etc.) EXCEPT for the built-in power supply. I used a Lind DC power supply for the IBM Thinkpad and it worked fine.

I'm using the same Thinkpad Lind adapter right now with my CF-19 mk3 on a Gamber Johnson CF-19 mk1 dock in my car.

Thanks for the info. But I'll use the dock mainly for two things: power and to keep the laptop from becoming a projectile.
So I'm going to try to find a cheap 194.

Just one other thing, I bought a docking station, 181 and that does work, even though it isn't recommended. It charges, puts monitor, USB, Ethernet signals through, so all in all not bad.

The older docks will work however if you get the newer dock, it will not work with the earlier model computers.

GJ CF18/19 docks and Panny 18/19 docks do not have built in power supplies.

It's quite a long drive, so I think I'll check it out on thursday, when I need to be close by the seller anyways.
Thanks for all the feed back, I'll report when I know more!
