    COM port fiasco

    Well trying to get my bluetooth to connect with my phone, no luck yet...
    Not sure what I did but now in some applications I am seeing COM ports out the wyzoooo, I mean 100+!
    I think between the Bluetooth software and the phone software I ned to to just unintall all of it and start over.
    I never knew XP could support so many COMs!

    That doesn't sound right. XP only uses between 4-8 com ports...ever. Reinstall!

    Normal laptops will show like Com 1-5 maybe... Bluetooth can add another 10-20 ports... But that is about it. If you seriously have 100+... You should uninstall your BT software and reboot... If you are still seeing too many... Start uninstalling Com ports and see if they come back after reboot. You wil probably also need to remove the BT card or disable it in the BIOS when doing the uninstalls.

    Then reinstall everything.
