All right I have finally got all my goodies for the CF-27. But I will ask this question, and I'm sure it has been asked before. I have a PII 266 can it be upgrade? If so How high? Will another mother board work in the case and use 90% of the stuff I have bought for this one? Or should I ask what units are interchange able or all mostly the same?
Thank You, You all have been a Great Help. :notworthy:

Ok this will be answered one more time,,,,,,,,,
The CPU is soldered in place so it cannot be replaced.
Even if you could replace it the voltages on faster CPU are different so the motherboard will not support an upgrade.
Best bet is look for a 500 mhz cf-27 or get a cf-28 and swap all your stuff to it...

dcsbass.... How long does that take to boot up? What OS are you running? What programs do you run on it?

Although I've never tried to mount a newer mobo in a MkI, I don't think the headache of trying to get the heatsinks to line up would be worth the effort.

It's not real fast. I have a new hard drive, 60 G. Have all I can as far as ram, 256. I'm using 2000 Pro SPK3. I haven't put any programs on it yet. I have three I will run for my police work. I just felt like I would up grade CPU, sense I've down all the rest..
I would appreciate the Mobo # for a PIII, CF-27 though.

That may not help you... In that model you may be trapped. Gravitar can help here....

I think if you want a faster computer... You may have to ante up around $100 - $200 for a CF-28/800MHz.... (stripped)

What you have should run most things just fine as long as you dont try running XP and if you are running Win2K just keep it at the base level or no higher than SP3. Word processing, E-mail and spreadsheets don't need much more. Police terminal software needs very little horsepower and should work just fine.

If I do that, I'll have to change batteries and ram correct?

David.... You can usually use the same stuff within models. There is another thread with regard to what is interchangeable between models. So you should read / post in that one. They are not interchangable...
