    Hello,

I wonder whether there is a cable that can be plugged into the SATA connection of the HDD caddy of the CF-19. I thought it would be nice to have quick access to the drives without disassembling them, but I'm not aware of the name of the connection used. Anybody who can push me into the right direction here?

we would just need the socket from a dead CF-19 mobo, and someone to solder it to a PCB with (mini)SATA data and power standard plugs. I could be wrong, but i think just the pinout is proprietary, as the HDD heater most likely is fed from the standard power lines, that go in the HDD as well.
Then, we could just use standard SATA data+power cable(s).

    O.K. I might have 8 to 10 drives with-in reach......kitchen table :)

I can't figure out what hooks to what.

Does anyone have a instruction manual? It looks like we would need to purchase something besides the above.

IOW how does it work. Using small words.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

First you get what we call a drive caddy. Then you remove the 3 screws holding the caddy together. ONE of the hard drives, not all ten, goes inside the foam of the caddy. The ribbon looking thingy is the cable. It needs connected to the connector thing a ma bob on the drive. replace the foam inside the tin outer shell and put the lid back on the caddy. retighten the 3 screws.

    I hope this helps...................I know, I know, I am what I am...I am a smart alec........ :D

Seriously.. It looks like the connection under the aluminum L bracket is the caddy connector. Plug the caddy into it. On the opposite side, are the 2 sata connectors. One for data and one for power.

I just bought this from the fleabay. I am tired of that usb hdd adapter that I use. This connects right to the sata on the motherboard on my desktop.

The thing I really like about this one is that it has sata on it.

    VERY VERY SWEET!

How about this though??? Not sure this one is even possible... But looking for an adapter that can plug into the HDD side, and let me connect a second HDD internally. Back in the "old days" before SATA, while they were harder to find for the smaller 2.5" laptop drives, such was still readily available. I spent a good bit of time digging around on fleabay, but came up with nothing that gave me any solid leads.

Yeah, I know about swapping out the optical drive for a second HDD, but not an option on my CF-19. And I know I could fit more than one drive into that caddy...
