Got an Ubuntu CD burned and wanna ditch Windows (If I can get a few programs running on Wine or some other Windows Emulator.)

I'm having difficulty getting the touchscreen working. It runs out of the box, but it's way off mark. How can I calibrate it?

It calibrates just fine in windows.

I don't think you can... unless their is a generic calibration utility for linux/ubuntu because Panasonic doesn't make drivers for ubuntu/linux for anything... ur kinda on your own their.... whats wrong with XP anyways?? I hate to say it but XP Pro SP2 (and even SP3) is pretty solid!

I dunno. I wanted to try it (again)... I have a love/hate relationship with Linux/Unix/BSD.

I have a hate-hate-hit (wanna hit things) :realmad: relationship with Linux, I'm allergic to it as well!!! Makes me sneeze! Just because they refuse to use what we like to call a GUI (which Apple invented like 561897564 years ago) doesn't mean that I have to learn their conveluted crappy CLI!

    LINUX HATER FOR LIFE!!! LOL

Yes you can... I'm not into Linux (yet) but do some digging around here. Someone posted about how to get the touchscreen working and how to calibrate it when running Linux... I know it has to be here somewhere. I think it was about a year ago... Or close to it.

A Search here on the forum will turn up a post by Modly in the Bual Boot thread, or I wrote this tutorial for PCLinuxOS. Most of the principles are the same, but file locations may be different. If it works out of the box than you should probably skip to the troubleshooting and calibration section. I've posted an example xorg.conf file there as well. You will undoubtedly need to take the parts you need and leave the rest behind, but the info for calibrating s in there. Good luck, but be warned, you could leave your Linux in a les than desirable state if you mess it up.

    Rob,
On a historical note. Apple did not invent the GUI, Xerox did! Rent "Pirates of Silicon Valley", and note the part where Gates and Jobs steal the design for the mouse from Xerox PARC with the full cooperation of Xerox upper management. Yes Alice, we did use computers without mice! Only slightly less amusing than the part where Gates and Allan convince IBM to let them keep the rights to DOS, after all, "there's no money in software, all the bucks will come from hardware sales". It really is a must see for computer types, and it's very well done.

As far as I am aware, no one has got the touch screen calibrated under the latest kernel.
