Hello again, everyone. I have a new CF-53JULA21M that I got at 0 hours on the clock for a great price from a gov auction. I have already swapped out the AT&T LTE card for a Verizon LTE card but now I want to know if it is possible to add GPS to this unit and if so, is that something that is able to be added in the field without sending to the depot? Can anyone supply a part number, or are there any aftermarket options that are compatible? Thanks as always!

P.S. - I still have no replies on my other thread about adding dual pass thru to this unit, but if anyone can tell me if that is a possibility that would be spectacular! You're all the best!

For GPS you will need to call Heartland Services to see if it's available for the 53 and if it is it will not be cheap. I have not seen an aftermarket one for it .

Again I would call Heartlands or call panasonic...sounds to me like you need a CF-31

Although I do not know how to enable GOBI in my ToughBook, I do know that others here are using it for GPSr

I would imagine that since it is an OEM option that it can be added later. You could certainly add your own custom module and that would probably be the best bet. It would be both (most likely) better and less expensive.

We'd need the CF-53 schematics to see pinouts... I am not sure if anyone has those yet... Or if the pinouts would be the same as the CF-52... But it would be fairly easy to check.

I do have the service manual but there is no schematics in it.

I learned all my mod tricks from the master Red Green....

    Sawzall to open the case..
    Propane torch to solder connections..
Duct tape to finish it up..
Hmm wonder if I can build a laptop using duct tape for the entire case.....

    .....I think I need sleep.

Seriously though..keep us posted of your progress...
