Hi, i have several Panasonic Toughbook CF-28s and want to replace their 40 gigs harddrive with a larger one.
I found several sites in Holland, that sell the Samsung 160 gig IDE 2.5 inch harddrive for about 56 euros.
Is the CF-28 able to handle this size harddrive, or not ?
Oh, and does anybody know, the maximum harddrive size, a CF-28 can handle ?
Thanks in advance.
PS: I tried searching the forum for this question, because i assume, that this kind of questions have been ask in the past a lot of times, but the search function doesnt work very well (=totally not).

Member Azrial put this up for all to use. Replace "test" with your search. If you are running XP the Samsung drive will work, but there have been a lot of bad HM160s around lately so although they have been my go-to PATA/IDE drives for a long time you might want to look for something else. I'm not doing anything with PATA drives lately.

The cf 28 bios will not recognize drives larger than 128gb but xp will.
You can use any size hdd as long as the primary partition is smaller than that.
If you install a drive larger than what the bios recognizes and you fill it beyond that you will start having data corruption issues. -
