I just discovered that Heartland will no longer sell the DC Input jacks (motherboard end) for the CF-28. I guess we are supposed to repalce the entire motherboard if the DC jack breaks.

Do any of you know the commercial part number for the jack so that I can buy them from Newark or Mouser?

PS - what happened to this forums advanced search button? I logged on today and its gone - or really hidden somewhere (at least on my browser - FireFox).

    Thanks

Hmmmmm..... The search button seems to work for me. The best way to search on here, from past experience, is to use Google and follow the links that come to this site. Works great!

It seems that someone had a part number for that once. Maybe I'm thinking of another part. I'll have t look at one to see what else may work. I'll also check and see if I can spare one off of one of my motherboards.... When I can walk again... I tripped over a metal desk drawer yesterday and ended up in the ER.... 14 stitches later I'm home with orders to stay on the couch for 2 days.... (Of course I've been sneaking work in on a few laptops... I have to.)

Thanks toughbook - sorry to hear about your fall. The important thing is to avoid getting the wound infected - that will really lay you up - so be cautious.

The jacks do appear to be available on Ebay as the Capt says (thanks Capt) and I have bought I couple. If I can determine the mfg part # after receiving them I will post it on this thread.

Its the advanced search function - that only searches within the Panasonic forum - that apparently has been removed because of problems - as the moderator metions above. Hopefully it will be re-instated soon.

    Regards

**OUCH ** I hope you smashed the drawer to bits after that, I've found that helps ease the pain.

Welding the drawer closed seems to work most of the time, tho' you have to be sure you don't leave anything in it you may need later.

Hopes for a quick recovery, or Toughbook futures will be rising due to reduced inventory.

I thought it was bad when I would forget the freezer door being open and stand up.

That definitely rates a few days off. I'm taking them now...

Thing is... The edge wasn't really too sharp! It was my 250# dumb @$$ that fell on it that did it!

It looks much better now... Just kicking back with a J&C now.... Letting it breathe.... (Not the J&C... It's going down fast!) ;)

That reminds me... I need to pick up some nachos & salsa for dinner tomorrow... already got the hamburger. ;)

Seriously... I know how those drawers can be man... they'll jump right out in front of you; especially those toolbox & "old steel desk turned into workbench" drawers... they're the worst, since they've had 40 years or so to collect "stuph" while they perfect the timing...
