For those with more experience in these matters than I, here is a question concerning the two primary (not including USB) types of wifi, specifically for the CF-28. How does the Engenius EMP-9701 A/B/G/N card compare to the Ubiquiti PCMCIA/Cardbus SR-71C A/B/G/N in performance and cost effectiveness? I am looking at another CF-28 project using a MKIII CF-28 with the hidden PCMCIA slot and the Ubiquiti card and two external antennas. I would use roof mounted antennas when docked and two rubber ducky antennas when portable. I am trying to get the max range possible from either of the cards. Okay guys, here's where you chime in and give it your best! ;)

The PCMCIA Ubiquiti is going to cost you about four times what you would pay for the Engenious pci card. Also I think that you are limited to 100 or 200 mw on the PCMCIA card. I think that I paid $40.00 for my Engenious 8602 + S abg pci card. I looked into the Ubiquiti card for my CF-27 but it was just not cost effective, so that is why I got my CF-28.

I would go with the Engenius card above. Unless you MUST have the N band... Do you REALLY need it on a CF-28? I wouldn't think so.

I would run the ever-famous internal foil/paddle type antenna to the outside port cover and then a U.Fl to SMA bulkhead that would allow all sorts of possibilities.... 7dB rubber ducky on the side, 9dB mag-mount antenna... Or a long-range cantenna....
