I was wondering what you guys use for carrying strap for the toughbooks outfitted--as mine is--with those low-profile metal belt loops on the back corners? Do you trust those loops? Also, does the strap need to go through the loops (and thus across the back of the machine, thus changing the geometry of the force on them, if you get my meaning), or can you just clip any old strap on them? One old post said they were discontinued after the 29 mk III, I think. Ill omen?

The straps that were made for these strapped straight to the loops on the back which is more than enough to not support the laptop but probably another 300 pounds! They are strong... No need for leveraging there. You might still be able to find the straps... I only have one left and am saving that one. They used to sell anywhere from $9.99 to $19.99. I don't think I would use anything that wasn't made by Panasonic... But that's me.

Im sure you could ghetto rig something up from a strap in the local retailers luggage section, however I agree with Toughbook I would stick OEM Panasonic and get the exact one, although I must they I haven't seen many for sale recently, heartland maybe?

There is a place on Ebay selling 'sling' style cases for CF-30's so there's no reason that sort of carrying case can't be used with a CF-28 or CF-29.

That's the sort of thing I was referring to - spot on! If the place you bought yours will ship to Oz, I'll buy one myself. Though I do like the Pelican 1500 case. Kinda not a 'carry on' bag though. lol

Hey Craig, don't bid on the one I'm trying for, hehe , j/k It ends in a day.
But I wonder if he will send one to you, of course at an additional cost.
One never knows unless you email them.
It all depends on how bad you want one.

I wonder just how sloppy a fit they are on a 29? anyone tried?

If I dont like the fit it'l be back on ebay.

I do know for sure that the Sling case for the CF-29 won't work with the CF-30 as the CF-30 is a little thicker. (So if you had a CF-30 sling case I would assume that it would be loose for the CF-29) I had one for my 29 back in the day and I also had that strap Rick was talking about the 300 lbs and man alive that was a great thing to have. To bad no little metal loop thingys don't exist on the CF-30 (although they do have empty screw holes behind those little plastic cover thingys... )
