I have a CF-31JPL2Q1M that has the MC7550 cell modem in it. I can't seem to get it to work on the Telus network here in Vancouver, BC. Can anyone tell me what drivers or hardware I need?

I've looked through all of those posts (or many of them). Mostly they are close to 10 years old and are for CF-30 etc. Was hoping for some more current info. What modem that fits in a CF-31 will work on Telus?

    Maybe a MC7455 or a MC7700

I have a CF-31Mk3 that was a surplus Alberta Gov. unit. It has a MC7700 card in it and I am sure the provincial gov uses Telus as their wireless carrier.

I am waiting for the rain to slack off some. When that happens work will increase and I will be able to afford the SIM card and data plan. I feel confident that I will have no problems connecting with the MC7700, here in Alberta or any other province, using the Telus network.

The MC7700 supports B4 LTE and B2 UMTS/HSPA+ which should be good with Telus in B.C.

Worked over here with a Koodo sim.

If your CF-31 can recognize it. I bought an MC7355 in January but I don't remember how far I got with it because I ended up tinkering with the MC7455 instead. According to specs, it should work fine with Telus.

Installed the MC7355 today. No go. toughbook doesn't recognize it. Any better suggestions? Did the MC7455 work?

The MC7355 card you have may be locked to a specific manufacturer (commonly Lenovo and Dell) and thus your Toughbook won't see it.

I made this spreadsheet for myself when I was looking for modules and aircards. It lists the frequency/band, LTE Category and the up/down speeds of each card on each network in Canada. I can update it if you find any other more recent models.

But of course, not all frequencies are deployed everywhere so it's best to check with the TAFL or a cell phone tower map site to see what frequencies are active in your area(s). This more so with Freedom Mobile.

As @canuckcam said in other works the card you need has to be out of a Toughbook or it will not work. Do you have the link to the auction you bought it from ?

Or is has to be not locked to any manufacturer. Expect these things to happen when you experiment with WWAN modules from random sneezebay sellers.

I had trouble with the MC7455 under Linux so I took the path of least resistance and slapped it in the CF-31 that runs Windows 10 where it seems to work a lot better, and it's fine right where it is. I continue to use the MC7700 on my main Linux workhorse (because it just works) but I'll get back to the MC7455 if I have a need for some of its frequency bands, which I don't right now. The wife sort of uses the Windows CF-31 at home and doesn't need WWAN. She put all sorts of pretty "stickers" all over the lid.

Being curious, I should dig up the MC7355 and see what the big deal was with that card and why I left it alone.

I do remember now you did get it going but for someone new to Toughbooks and as you know many times we could spend hours / days trying to get a non Panasonic one to work and sometimes where one will work in one Toughbook but not in another (MK1 vs MK2) . I know I have lost lots of sleep and hair trying to get them working so now I spend the extra and get the right one from a seller that knows Toughbooks.

Well, the MC7355 seems to be a no go. I just bought an MC7700 on ebay that claims to be a toughbook pull. Wish me luck.

Thanks for asking. I installed the new modem and went on the hunt for drivers. Didn't have any luck so far. Got a home reno project on the go and my wife's breast cancer treatment so the modem project got bumped back a bit.

My apologizes for not having anything more to contribute the thread. I have not had the hours at work that I thought I would ( much rain) so there is no room in my budget to get a data plan for the MC7700 at this time.

I pulled the Koodo sim card from my Sonim and put it in the 31mk3 running MX linux. I had to setup a new mobile broadband connection. Followed the wizard and had to enter the carrier and APN ( access point name). Clicked connect and was off surfing the 'net. Thanks kode-niner for the APN info.
