I can't give much specific help on a cf28....I have never owned one....
Pretty sure the wifi card only works in a certain slot..
You will need to post your full model number...CF28xxxxxxx.. X's represent different letters.
Have you checked to see if the wifi (WLAN) is enabled in the BIOS?

Something does not look correct here. The card you show in your CF-28 is not the one listed in the ebay sale.
Get hold of the ebay seller and see if he will send you correct card.
The on listed in the sale has a Broadcom chip and has two (2) antenna connectors.

I have the same card on the ebay page in two of my CF-28's. Same seller I think with the driver download link on the page. And like on the ebay page has the two antenna hookups, not one. I would check with the seller. Also is it still showing a unknown device in your device manager? If so what code is it showing?

Sorry for my confusing info! That pic is my 2 original cards! I have the correct one just don't know which slot it should be in! I have installed the 2 antennas to connect onto the card, nothing showing in device manager when I tried it in either slot? Would this card work with my original antenna on top left of screen? That's when I do get it working!!

I would put the wifi on the right side and replace the modem. Leave the bluetooth in..
The antenna on the screen is a different frequency so it wont work without modifications.

You probably won't see the wifi card in the BIOS because CF-28 did not offer that. But it should show up in Device Manager and load the correct drivers from Windows.

It is possible to modify the original antenna but takes alot of work and hard to get working well. Much easier to just add 2 flag antennas inside the case to the left and right sides under the palm rest. For a few more bux you can get an EnGenius 8602+S with 300 mW output power for better range . . .

That does show every device you ever installed.....or tried to install.

Much easier than searching every vendor code in G**gle

Well if nothing is showing in device manager then it's not installed. Makes me wonder if your card is dead. Was the "UGX" there before you installed the card or after ?? A lot of times when I get into a problem like yours I start all over but first remove the card and drivers and see if the UGX is still showing up in device manager. Now install the card again and download the drivers again but make sure you have the right one.

Got nothing else to try it in, ugx was there before as I did fresh xp install and haven't put the Bluetooth driver back on, it goes away if I remove the card and fit the Broadcom card in its place, but device manager doesn't show it still, even after removing and re installing, had wondered if card is dead! And I'm using the driver that comes with it

Myself I would start all over again. Leave the card in the 28 and do a full install of the OS again.

Put the original cards back in.

Boot to BIOS and Verify that everything is enabled.......BLUETOOTH and MODEM..

Do this to insure that the slots are enabled.

Save settings and shut off laptop

Remove BLUETOOTH and MODEM and insert WIFI card..

    Boot with LINUX live cd....

If it doesn't show up, try other slot

There are Live XP cd versions on the net...You can try those also.

    Report back....
