    Hello all,
I purchased a MK 3 SBC machine from Tiger Direct. It appears to be working well. The touchscreen works OK, and the machine is in not too bad shape overall. It has been repainted and the underside has a number of scratches and gouges - looks like the SBC employees used the CF-29 as a defensive shield in a knife fight.
I have expanded the memory to one gig and will swap the 40gb hard drive for the Samsung 160gb.
Thanks for all the great info. that is posted, it is a great help to a newbie.

    Yes welcome!
My first Toughbook came from the same sorce. Mined must have been used by the other guy as a sheild in the aforementioned knife fight, it too was all cut up!

I have a machine here at work that the only thing I can figure to explain the damage is that they used it as a hammer- literally. It looks like nail head sized dents/ gouges all along the bottom. But it still works fine. :D

I've got the same machine as well as some others. Those dents I bet come from the docking station for the vehicle. I am using a Kodiak dock in my truck and have put a few extra's on it.

Yes, I guess the more likely explanation is that these machines have seen some pretty intense industrial use. The fact that most continue to perform well is evidence of the toughbook's rugged build factor.
