I upgraded to a CF 30 and i swapped my CF 29 backlit keyboard into it. However some of the keys are giving me problems, when i type some letters are missing and it makes typing harder. I guess a few of the keys require more pressure than others.

How would i go about fixing or cleaning these keys? I looked for a CF 30 emmisive but they are rare and $200 so if i fix my current kb it will be fine.

Try reseating the keyboard cables. Missing keys happen quite often when the cables are not seated fully.

I have sold dozens of these
The rubber type sometimes miss keystrokes, but the regular and emmisive don't seem to have problems

I've had problems with my current emmisive keyboard like you have said: You have to hit certain keys harder to register. This was a particular issue when Samantha was typing on it because of her light typing. It wasn't TOO big of an issue for me, just an annoyance. It was only till she nagged me that I fixed it. here is what I did:

    1) Pulled the key off (in my case the '1' key and the 'q' key)
    2) Used my air compressor to blow out the gunk
    3) Removed the little rubber cap thing
    4) Cleaned the silver contact with simple green sprayed onto a rag.
    5) Carefully put it back together and it works great now.

On a side note: I've had this same keyboard since my original toughbook CF-29 back in April of 2005 and it's seen better days but I still love it!
