I have 2 toughbook CF W2 laptops.. they are a bit different, one has a big ENTER key, the other has a not so tall ENTER key.
One of them keeps turning off even during bootup sometimes. No error in event log. I suspect it's the battery. I'd like to change it.
Can I try the battery from the ok one and put it in the other one?
And how would I know that it'd be ok to try it? is all that is relevant volts? is it possible in theory that it won't be ok? if so then what is that theory? what could go wrong if it isn't ok in theory..?

If they both are the same model you should be ok.

It will be the same battery so go ahead
These are getting old now and I suspect that it's time to replace it
Panasonic has a utility called pc information viewer,it should be in program files and it has a tab to display battery information, like discharge cycles etc -
The closest I could find on the Panasonic site was their DMI program, which doesn't provide the battery recharge cycle info. Any chance you could provide a link -- or maybe it sleeps with the fishes along side the Model Configurator app.

My guess you did not use the above link ? I got 20 records found
for that model. Check out the picture , language multi(Hong Kong). I got no hits untill I changed the language to multi.
