Typing that in search doesnt work, so i had to post
There is a seller on the bay offering the Y7 models which i want because it has high res, i got the T7 which is great but i need to upgrade my resolution a bit higher now lol
Its missing the hard drive cover, and i contacted the seller but they dont know where to get it from
Any ideas on this, aside from that the unit appears to be usable

If you need a lightweight, reliable 14" SXGA+ laptop for a reasonable amount of money, CF-Y7 is definitely a top choice.
I've owned both CF-Y5 and CF-Y7 and loved them to bits. The biggest advantage of the latter is its ability to use SATA HDDs/SSDs.
Happy shopping. -
Yea definitely know its light weight as the T7 is very light, and after going from 29 to 30 to T7 i think Y7 is an upgrade as far as res is concerned now
-
I've never owned a T7, but 1400x1050 on a 14" is as good as it gets on any Panasonic...which is plenty for most people who still prefer 4:3 formar like myself...

This is something that heartland always ask for if you do not have the part numbers. I did just find the service manual but to find the part is another thing. Not really sure when the hardrive is located on this thing

just replied
right now im using the y7, i taped the hard drive lol to use it
it feels great to have a higher res screen, definitely a decent machine but i hate the loud fan -
The Y4 was the last one with out a fan. The T and W series went up to 5 series without a fan. How many hours does the unit have? It is bearing squeal on the fan or just a noisy fan?
-
its got 6600 it goes from low to high, i mainly just do browsing on this machine and it may just because im used to a silent cf 30
sometimes its silent but most of the time its not
i tried changing the thermal grease on my t7, but i couldnt get it back together lol these things are tough and i put it aside till i got free time which has been about a mth and its still in pieces lol -
I learned a lot of the little tricks on these with the T1, T2 and W2 I use to have. At least you don't have to split the case just to change the hard drive in them now. The old ones wifi card and hard drive was burried deep inside them. Got to where I could do it in a few minutes time. The main thing is the different screws. I usually lay them out on the table in the same pattern they come out.

this biatch is hot, the bottom of the case can cook something geez
i know toughbooks last, but this has me doubted that they didnt use some better compound
my fan is on super high most of the time, occasionally on low and medium -
I have had to redo the pads and thermal paste on a few. Just did a couple of CF-30 Mk2's and put on a good pad. May be time to do that on that one.
-
yea on the cf 30s its no issue, but if the y7 is the same as the t7 tis going to be a horrible christmas season
-
anybody have a link to the repair manual, I need to look up some parts...
