Excuse me, not found within CF 18 FAQ or search..
If it exists or someone can tell me it would be very much appreciated.
Having uninstalled ALL of the drivers and reinstalled in the "correct" d@mn order to allow the touchscreen to function properly and calibrate without the Parameter error (found within Toughbook sticky) ..
..and I mean really, are they trying to make us crazy?!..
Anyway, I simply do not want to go through all of this again and wish to make certain I install in the correct order!!
I have unpacked folders with setup :
hkeyapp
hkeyset
hplsman
What is the correct installation order?
Upon uninstalling and reinstalling all drivers, and installing touchscreen driver first ("fsmous" or something..cant recall now..find within Sticky at op of forum new people!) ..
..strangely I have no ? marks within my hardware services anymore ..
Nevertheless, I need the hkey options and functions to work correctly..
Help greatly appreciated..

Post #7 seems to have the information you are looking for. -
Thank you...yes.
Alex reply, Page 6, #58 explains it all correctly and completely after resolving it all...(to save others the time of researching and reading page after page everywhere.
These driver installation issues are ridiculous..
Although I have seen various info and sticky posted in various places, this above all should be posted cleanly and coherently somewhere in big red letters...in one place.
As a final suggestion, remove and replace the "joecox" suggestion posted at the top of this page with that of Alex' ..
..not only is it possibly incorrect, but it will give people the false assumption their touchscreen is faulty.
Amongst the most invaluable thing to know with these...
PS: never knew these auto rotated..
..of course mine not working, nor have i gotten rid of the parameter error during calibration for the touchscreen...
...but ill be damned if i will uninstall and reformat everything and reinstall in some insane particular order..
just madness. -
I have the link to that thread in the bottom of the guide, may need to move it up some and give it it's own space.
-
Yes, i see it now.. well I would higly recommend that..
Or perhaps place similar posts ona troubleshooting page, not an faq page...too much info together.
However, I believe that refers to machines with digitizers only, not touchscreens.
So the joecox2 post may be relevant and correct?
I may make another thread after re reading all of that, but as a note, althoug everything is now functioning perfectly onmine, hot keys, etc..the touchscreen and digitizer are not.
Once again, cf 18 mk 5, CF18PHH....gigitizer and touchscreen, xp pro used, mk5 drivers downloaded and extracted properly..
Uninstalled mouse a couple times and directed to correct mouse..fidmous.inf file (or whatever it is named..cant recall now)..
Pointer goes directly to bottom of screen using touch or digitizer.
Calibration gives - Parameter error, please try again..
Just found intel inf_ driver referred to in above post as first item to install..
But i believe that refers to digitizer only.
Hate to do this as all else is set up perfectly, but may, because ima stupid man.
Its a male thing i think all of this stuff.
Any thoughts p,ease dont hesitate to offer them.
Will review that thread again..
Thank you for the help.. -
Okay, first off, you can not have both a digitizer and a touchscreen on a CF-18, regardless of the Mk. As far as I know, the ability to have both was not available until the later Mk CF-19's.
The only time I have encountered the parameter error when trying to calibrate was on a unit that had mechanical problems, not software. I believe you are dealing w/the same thing. You will need to get the TS panel repaired/replaced to get rid of the parameter error.
Member Sadlmkr can help you out with a replacement. He does excellent work for free, well not that cheap, but almost in my books. Have not seen him in a day or two, so he is probably busy with the ranch.
EDIT: I missed the comment about the parameter error in the first post, other wish I would not have wasted your time w/software solutions. It is hardware, I'm sure you will find. -
Thank you...
Yes, intended to edit that...Touchscreen only.
Using a tablet ouchscreen to type and it is making it difficult to edit posts.
I understand...thank you.
Nevertheless, that link u provided was very helpful.
Kind regards. -

Well 2 things
1. You might have some dirt , crap on the bottom of the touchscreen. Try cleaning it with a tooth pick or something
2. Your touchscreen is gone . This is why you are getting Calibration gives - Parameter error
We have all been threw this before...counting me too and once I replaced my touchscreen never had a problem again. Many of the reasons why they end up on ebay is there is something wrong with them or upgrades. I have bought 4 CF-19's and all have the same problem as yours .Once the touchscreen was replaced never had the problem again. -
This is the main reason on the Late 18's/early 19's I have mainly only been interested in the the digitizers. I have yet to see or hear about a dead one of those.

Interesting..
thank you all for that info.
As a note, although my model states Touchscreen (and yes, touchscreen is enabled within bios) I do have a digitizer pen on the side too..
If there were no digitizer / touchscreen models, why would the pen be included?
Anyway, i understand completely the comments on ebay sales. Believe me.
However, although I know what to look for (I thought), have a keen eye, and spent a lot of time finding this one, I never imagined the TS had issues such as this.
It is otherwise like new with obviously little use. With only a little dent on the back of the screen cover and a few minor scratches.
Bottom, sides, covers, plugs, all are pristine. the screen feels as if it hs never been swiveled before!
the keyboard, hinges, touchpad all feel hardly used and like new. Very clean, nothing wedged at the bottom, but will keep an eye out for that. But my problem of cursor going straight to the bottom when touched seems a common issue.
Anyway, I will play wit it best I can when I take it part tomorrow for the wifi upgrade and antenna setup..although I really dont know what Im looking for.
this guy mentions same issues as mine and many others (it seems via research) and describes the connector end and the plastic covering failing causing a bend of some sort in the cable. He used tape to reinforce it.
EDIT; Hell, I cant find the post anymore..
I am curious what the replacement TS or mods you all installed which are different from the originals and made them function well?
Past posts reflects several having this reoccur..
What i find strange is that i can press the red x during calibration all over the screen and it functions properly at each of these screen points...why it is a hardware issue is a strange thing.
Ah well..you know, my old Mk1 which I was hoping to replace with this Mk5 as an upgraded model has the digitizer working just flawlessly with all it has been through and the hard life it obviously had before me......always the way.
Anyway thank you very much. Immeasurably helpful everything Ive heard and come across here. -
-
Hah...right on..you got it.
Tricky..and i should have noticed as I have the digitizer pen too with the mk1 ..
Thanks.
ok, officially burned out..
