Okay I am new to this site so I don't know my way around. I have CF18KHH64BE, built in wifi, bluetooth, mc75 edge and now a GPS module (Matsua CN-GX0290A).
I bought the first GPS and installed it by removing the edge board and replacing it, by hit and miss trials I put the bluetooth back on the daughter board.
To cut a long story short, what I am after trying to find is a schematic for the GPS daughter board from which I could decifer the pin out connections for the GPS 12 pin FFC as I have an after market engine which I want to attach to the daughter board in place of the GX0290A sled.
Can anyone help with FFC connections between the sled and daughter board????
Cheers in advance

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook forum
When you posted this on toughbooktalk I have been looking but could not find the schematic for the GPS daughter board . We have a few members here that are very good when it comes to GPS so they should be able to help you with the pin out. -
The cf29 and CF 18 use the same GPS module.
Do you need the pinout from the GPS to the daughterboard?
Or the pinout from the mainboard to the daughterboard?

Cheers Shawn,
What I am after is a breakdown of the 12 pin FFC which connects the GPS sled to the daughter board via the 12 pin FFC as in what if anything the pins do and when looking at the FFC from which side is number 1. As I will have to make my own 12 pin FFC conversion with jumper leads to connect to the replacement board, then to the daughter board through the FFC connector already in place. -
You will need to do you own trace using the available schematics. There are no known schematics available for the daughterboard. Do you have the MK4 main board schematics?

Hi Shawn,
What I am after is a breakdown of the 12 pin FFC that links the GX0290A module to the daughterboard. As I will have to make my own conversion lead to join the replacement
module to the daughterboard through the 12 pin FFC connector already in place.
Basically I would like an idiot guide which tells me physically where pin 1 is then which pin does what if anything.
The rest of this project will be posted as it progresses.
Cheers for now -
Shawn,
I don't have any schematics of any sort, what ever is available to download/source will be much appreciated.

From the above linked thread
Hi! for those who need to mod their unit using EM408 or holux gps module here is the pin out base on cf-18(IF schematic). Be advice that this mod is only for those individual who has enough skilled and understanding how it works and how it can be done. You may used 0 ohm resistor series to individual line for extra protection of the circuit.
EM408 GPS engine ============== CN(16) on CF-18 Mbo.
pin 1 enable/ disable--------------------pin 35 RFD
pin 2 ground--------------------------- pin 1 or any ground pin
pin 3(Rx)-------------------------------pin 14(Tx)
pin 4(Tx)-------------------------------pin 13(Rx)
pin 5(VCC)------------------------------pin 2(VC5)
----------------------------------------pin 12 Gps in:this pin must be connected to ground, series with 0 ohm resistor in order to show up the gps on the bios. Then the rest will be a history. Lol
Holux engine board===============CN(16)
1 Vcc-------------------------------pin 2
2 Tx--------------------------------pin 13
3 Rx--------------------------------pin 14
4 Rxb----------nc-------------------
5 Ground----------------------------pin 1
6 Reset--------nc--------------------
-------------------------------------pin 12 same as above.

Since the CF29 and CF18 use the same GPS engine, This thread will help also.

I am now waiting for some 0.5mm 12 pin FFC and connectors in order to make the fly leads, once completed pics etc will follow from the project
Cheers
