now all that happens is that the laptop starts up goes to the windows xp screen then blue screen and loops around and does it again
i tried to rebuil windows but it says it can not see the Hard Disk

There is 2 different bios updates
    they are updated from windows
    one for vista
    the other for xp

I suppose that xp can't see your sata hard drive
    (vista will see it)

Whats the exact model # of your cf-19 ?
And what coa do you have ?

Thank you for all your help
it was what you said the driver for the sata drives was not installed for xp

i downloaded the correct driver and made a usb pen bootable and then reinstalled xp and pressed F6 to install 3rd party drive and loaded on the driver
worked like a dream thank you for all your help
