    Hello,

I would like to purchase cf-19 mk1 windows xp, and be happy owner. Immediatelly to equip it with internal wwan card for internet surfing over edge/3g (recognized from iphone. gsm necessary for internet??) capability for Central Europe, Slovakia (kit must accept physical SIM card from GSM provider). Because I have seen so many sierra products, I am lost which ones replace legacy ones ... what is the card do you recommend to buy compatible with this piece of rock.
(1.)I am lost what is compatible and what no and how should I orient in the sierra offer. If you have some recommendation regarding particular products, ell me.
(2.)Secondly, If I would want install card including even gps module (I believe it is possible to have on one card?) , how much would even cost such a card?
(3.)I believe this is all what I need to make it run (mobile internet/gps). No extra antennas, right?

(4.)Seller of notebook recommends only official hspda kit, which has the best coverage and performance. It is true and sierra is only cheap replacement?

If you could help me solve this issue, it would be great help as those are questions I do not expect to get from panasonic support

    Thanks

    Great topic. Thank you.
On the other hand, I have checked all posts and it does not respond to the 4th question, if there is any difference in quality between toshiba hspda kit and 3th party aka sierra.

Any problems or discomfort with sierra so far?

If you are using a proper European dealer (rather then some American importer), then the official HSDPA kit for a CF-19mk1 should be a Novatel EU740 if memory serves.

I have the Sierra MC8781 in Win7 and both, the WWAN and the GPS is working very well. There is no point to say, it could be better :)
On the other hand; I don't know the original kit.

ok. based on previous posts, I was able to find out unblocked Novatel EU740 and make good deal on ebay. Chip has been delivered, for notebook I am still waiting. However...however I do not see any space on this card where I can place SIM card and starting to have bed feeling. Can anyone tell me where I can plug SIM card from my operator to have functional edge/3g networks? (to make it more generic, where is SIM plugged with original kit (Novatel) or even with Sierra ?)

2onirakkiss - a little late, but thank you in regard of feedback about quality of sierra :)

The SIM slot is under the cover for the microphone and speaker jack. Open the cover and you should see a metal cover held by one screw. Remove the screw and cover and there's the SIM slot.

hmm. I am not sure if I there is assumed any extra step for driver installation, but I do not see any device in mobilink software (last link from db04p71).

ok. back to the table. After reload I see the wwan card install itself (when I am connected to the internet) as dell 5505(what should be actually novatel eu740). Even I remove it in hw device list, mobilink does not help me to install drivers for novatel eu740.
my question is,hy it does even is installed as dell 5505 ? the seller said there is no blocking per laptop brand but so far I see in those discussion, dell 5505 is hot potato.

should I start to hit head against the wall?

Guys, thanks for the posts. Let's recap what you said me I must to do and follow downloads you have shared with me:
    STEPS:
    1. install drivers for novatel eu740 (dell 5505)
    2. install some sw for connection to provider network (i.e. mobilink)

    ACTIONS:
    1. 2db04p71 - drivers you have provided are the same I have used - they detect I do not have dell system and fails to install. On the other hand, if I keep laptop connected to the interent after reload, windows xp will install drivers itself for dell 5505 and they are not possible to update (not sure about quality and usability) . Drivers for novatel eu740 I have been not able to find

    2. US connecting software was not possible to recognize any hardware. Should this software even include drivers for this card?
What alternative can I use? Or it is included in winxp?
2Pinecone - sorry, as I have mentioned you via PM - link you have send me via PM does not have correct authentication and I am unable to connect onto that ftp last 2 weeks
