I just got a cf-19 mk4 (cf-19RDT5A1M). I've already discovered that its seems apparent that the drivers for Windows 7 MUST be installed IN ORDER from start to end. All 43 (or more) of them. I think this explains to me why ready to go units are so expensive.

My question is: Posts around 2014 indicated that installing windows 10 was a "bad idea" on mk4 and up CF-19's due to the fact that drivers must be installed in order. Has anyone recently upgraded a cf-19 (preferably same model) to Windows 10 from 7?

Any issues? Do all of the features work properly after the upgrade? Must all of the drivers be properly installed prior to upgrading?

Everything is much easier in 2020.
Make clean install of Win10 Pro, use your Win7 Pro key, download and install one-click drivers bundle. Avoid upgrading Win7 to Win10 or you may have problems with Intel DPTF drivers and more cluttered OS.

Thank you! The Panasonic page shows a one click bundle for the mk5, but not the mk4.

Thanks. What about the wall I hit? I can't use any one click drivers without getting past this.

After I saw your post about the drivers, since windows 10 for mk4 drivers weren't on that page, I downloaded the 64 bit win 7 drivers. When I tried to reinstall win 7, I got the same error as the windows 10 error.

Installing on a fresh drive and I seem to have gotten windows 7 to install. Might be something with the way I formatted the drive.

Ok wtf. I ran the exe file, it appeared to have extracted and install a bunch of stuff to who knows where. As soon as it was done, nothing else happened. No on screen instructions. Nothing.

This is beyond ridiculous. Even after restarting, no drivers were installed. What did it do? Install a virus?

And now when I finally get down to the touchscreen driver a window pops up and says "This machine does NOT support"

Why? All other drivers appear to have all been installed (after going through one by one), there are no unknown devices in the device manager, system properties says there is a pen and single touch input available.

Did you right click the exe file and "run as administrator" to install the driver pack?
Otherwise it runs and doesn't work so they say.

Well I ran it and tried calibrating the touchscreen. It's not responding to touch at all.

I will say after running the driver pack again things took a lot longer and the CMD window showed up a few times, so it definitely worked...sort of.

I'm giving up. I guess I got a machine with a non-working touchscreen, which makes it completely useless. Another computer to lay around and collect dust.

Your CF-19RDT5A1M is a dual touch. Do you happen to be using a digitizer pen?
Did you go into the bios and hit F9 to reset everything to normal?
Yours has a custom bios (Sears) but shirley they would not disable the touch.

It did not come with a stylus or digitizer pen. There was an option to identify touch or pen before getting to the actual calibration screen. The seller even said in his ad that the touchscreen "wasn't guaranteed", which tells me I think they knew it didn't work. The BIOS is "Aptio setup utility American Megatrends, inc.". And there are NO touchscreen settings in the BIOS. Just external LCD and internal LCD. Those are the only settings in the bios that have to do with the display.

Maybe I'll just sell this one and buy one that's all set up and working. This is WAY to much of a headache to deal with. I've wasted an entire day messing with it.

EDIT replied without seeing page 2 !...

That's how it works... Once it is finished installing there are no messages.

You should have seen messages such as "extracting x of y" then "installing x of y".

If you look in programs you should see a number of panasonic apps that have been installed.

I don't know if it makes any difference but it is recommended to install the driver package as administrator (right click the exe and select install as administrator).

Thanks. Everything is installed correctly. The touch screen just doesn't work. All there is to it.

It seems unusual that both the touch screen and the digitizer don't work.

Do you have a digitzer pen to try?

No, I dont. Isn't the digitizer responsible for touch reaction? If the digitizer isn't working, wouldn't it make sense for touch to not work?

EDIT: This installation was doomed from the start. For some stupid reason I used only a 20 GB hard drive. (Insert slap forehead GIF) I am shaking my head right now lol. Rookie mistake. And I'm no rookie. 20+ years of building computers.

Touch is a separate thing to the digitizer. The digitizer will only work with the electromagnetic pen. Touchscreen works with a standard stylus.

Digitizer Pen doesn't need to be a Panasonic one..theres's a thread somewhere on cheaper alternatives..

Toshiba Reserve Stylus PA3317U-2ETC is a popular substitute pen for the CF-19.

It's amazing what a good CD drive and SATA cable are worth. I think a bad cable was screwing up the install. Brand new CD drive, brand new SATA cable for my USB adapter..perfect clean install first try. 120gb ssd.

Waiting on the replacement digitizer pen. Hopefully it works

Don't you have USB flash drive? I have no idea why do you want to use CD drive in modern PC :)
