Can the cpu on a cf-29 be changed for a different p4?

Right now i have a 1.2ghz p4m could it be changed for a faster p4m?

I have a couple of laptops sitting around that have died etc and they have p4m cpu's but they are 2.3ghz I think.

Even if that wont work there are other cpu's super cheap on ebay. But i am not sure if it can be changed on a cf-29 never read anything on it.

Nope... The CPUs on the CF-29 are soldered in place. You'd need to be "Micro-Man" instead of zippy-man to get the job done! ;)

LOL well i might just have to become a micro-man. Thats too bad, oh well the 1.2ghz is enough for me but i figured hey if i have one and it can be done why not right?

Yeah, otherwise I'd buy a cheap CF-30 and get a nice Core 2 Duo chip, since they're drop-in replacements!!! :(

Also, its not a P4M in a CF-29, its a Pentium Mobile. A 1.2 ghz Pentium Mobile is about on par with a 2.16 ghz P4M.

This FYI brought to you buy a huge geek.

It is a minor peeve of mine that people can't get past ghz and think about overall processing power. The Pentium mobile was an amazingly efficient processor. Using a fraction of the power of a P4M. I've seen P4M laptops with power chargers that need a fan due to the draw on the line.

    Thats just insane and sad.

OF COARSE!!! remember back in the AMD Athlon XP ages??? Noone could seem to understand why a 1700+ 1.46 GHz AMD Athlon XP could out-perform the plain ol Pentium 4 2.2GHz... because they were simply better!!! PERIOD, END OF STORY! they had higher FSB's and cache sizes!!! now this isn't necessary true anymore considering that Intel is leading the market with their dual and quad core CPU's + they got Apple in on the game too... up until recently as well the 2.1GHz G5 could out perform ANY older core duos (1.4 - 1.93 back in the day)

Yup yup, Athlon XP's were good, not especially power efficient though. I actually bought an adapter board back in those days to put a Pentium mobile in a P4 desktop board. Overclocked it to 2.66 from 1.8 with only a stock air cooled alum cooler. They were that efficient.

Outdid any single core system at the time, and used half of the power, it is still running as a server at my house.
