The touch Pad of my Cf-30 is very hard to use. If this is normal with this model?. I have 3 more Panasonic notebooks and a Toshiba Tecra and the touch pads are very easy to use. Hartland test the unit and said its was OK but I think there is something wrong.
Thanks and sorry for my English

I'm not sure what you mean by "Hard to use"....
Are you talking about the pressure you have to use to get it to work? Are you talking about the length the mouse travels? Can you be more descriptive?
There are A LOT of settings that you can play with. That is the FIRST Thing I do when I set up a Toughbook... I head straight for the mouse properties! -

Thanks for your response. The problem is the pressure. Need to press very hard to move the cursor. My others pana notebooks not need to press that hard. the difference is about 50%.

Turn it ALL the way up (the sensitivity) in the mouse settings, that's what I did to fix this issue

I have not been satisfied with my touchpad sensitivities either. The pad seems a lot less sensitive than any of my other laptops, no matter what settings I utilize.

Mine is perfect in my CF-30. I looked and everything is set to default. The cursor moving is just right for pressure and I get fewer false taps than on anything I have used before. I like that as I almost never use the tap function on my touch pad. Mine is non-touch but I doubt that affects anything.

The toughbook touch pads are done by sensitivity so they can be used in gloves etc without a problem so they do move slower than most laptops.
Most other laptops seem to sense the heat of your finger cuz if water gets on the touchpad then it will not work with your finger anymore or if it does it does not work well at all. Also if you are wearing gloves it will not see you are touching it at all.
The toughbooks on the other hand use pressure and you can have gloves on and it works like a charm. Or if it gets wet it still works perfect.
It is a nice feature when you work i the rain or have to have gloves on all the time.

James, VERY VERY good point!!! Toughbooks are the only laptops that I know of (maybe Itronix does this too?) that you can use with a glove on... hell sometimes I get lazy and use my stylus for the touchscreen on the touchpad.
On a side note, it isn't heat, its the electrodes (capacitance) in your fingers that it senses. Read through this wiki article and you'll see what I'm talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchpad
Palm pilots/PDA's are different too because those are pressure sensitive like the touchpads in our Toughbooks. -

And then there's multi-touch... which - to be honest with you boggles my mind

Oooooooh! I only read part of this wiki, but the one meter by one meter touch pad/screen from New Zealand sounds wild! Thanks for that Rob.

Thanks for the info rob. I was not sure how it worked and now i do

Is that why when you get water on a normal touchpad it does not work?
Oh and the itronix gobooks we use have normal touchpads. When i get them wet or use gloves it is a no go. I am not sure of the newer models but the ones we use do not have the pressure sensitive pads.

 Nice little factoid! Good job!

Somewhere here in the forums, maybe even on Rob's server, is a little application you can run to adjust via software the touchpad sensitivity. I must attest that it works VERY well. I am extremely happy with it.

Well if it is on my server I don't know about it
so, if you get that software, please email it to me so I can put it on my server

The program was written by LannyBoy (plz rep him for this if you use it, Thx lannyboy)
Here is the thread where touchspeed was talked about

Rob Guess you can add another folder on the server for lannyboy.

Sweet, I got it... I downloaded it. I PMed Jay to make sure it was okay with him if I put it on my server, so I'll let ya all know when I hear back from him.
Thanks -

I am using it now on my cf-19 with vista and it almost doubles the mouse speed. I am so used to the slow touchpad speed that using this makes my tb feel strange. I am starting to use it more often so i am getting used to it but this is a great program for any toughbook user.

That would be me, I got sick and tired of the way the touchpad worked, so I decided to fix it. Read the link in my signature if you have questions with how it works, and Please let me know if it works well for you by droping a message on that thread as well.

LannyBoy, I have to say, I am HOOKED!! I wasn't displeased with the regular setup, even liked the touchpad better than a mouse, but WHOA, with your little app there, it ROCKS!! I can't tell you how nice it is of you to share that. I am really impressed with your serving heart!
