Do all cf-73`s have touchscreen? I have a cf73scutsbm and the touchscreen does not work. it does not show it in bios nor does it have anything in device manager. I read on here that it may be a defective screen but part of the back story is I bought 3 off of Ebay one was complete and worked there were 2 that needed parts. I bought a hard drive that was needed for the one that the touchscreen does not work on. So I took the screen that was working from cf73QCQASKM and put it on the cf73scutsbm and it doesn't work (just the touchscreen part everything else works). Anyone have any ideas? Oh by the way I downloaded the driver and when I try to install it, it tells me that I don't have hardware to support the software and will not install. Running windows XP pro sp3

No, not all CF-73's have touchscreens. If you go to Toughbook Configurator you put the first model in and get this:

    Model Number:
    CF-73SCUTSBM
    Status:
    DISCONTINUED
    MSRP:
    $3,587
    Description: Pentium M 750-1.86GHz (Centrino), 13.3" Touch XGA, 256MB, 60GB, Intel 802.11a+b+g, DVD/CDRW, WIN XP SP2

The second one you used the screen from shows this:

    Model Number:
    CF-73QCQASKM
    Status:
    DISCONTINUED
    MSRP:
    $3,833
    Description: ***FEDERAL ONLY***Pentium M 1.7GHz, 13.3" Touch XGA, 64MB VRAM, 512MB, 60GB, 56K, Ethernet 10/100, NON-WIRELESS, DVD/CDRW, SmartCard, WinXP

I would be stealing the smart card off the Federal Model... But they both are touchscreen models.

Ok so they are both touchscreens. So now any ideas why the cf73scutsbm would not work? Or how to get the driver installed?

    Thanks for the reply

I just had 4 CF-73s that the touchscreens were all bad. It is a common issue with some touchscreen models.

Yes I have tried to download and install drivers and they won't install.. And I just took the screen off and put it back on the CF-73QCQASKM and it works just fine, but it did not work on the cf-73scutsbm.. Like I said there isn't even a setting in bios for it.

Check your device manager and see if you have a Fujitsu Touch Panel listed under HID. (Human Interface Device) If the device is seen and loaded by the bios/system then the problem is in the screen (touch panel) itself.
I have never had my hands on a 73. I use a linux live cd as a diagnostic tool....works for me.

    Jeff...might be a Takimisawa....

I re-read your post and the problem may be on the motherboard. In that case on a CF-30 MK1 you would see one, usually two generic hid devices but not the Fujitsu. Again I am not familiar with this model but is a touchscreen showing in bios on the 73Q? That would again point at a board problem in my experience.

It's a Dl3u11432aaa and I haven't been able to find another.

    I hate this answer.....buy a motherboard.......or......
Will the Q mobo fit the S? You seem to like the S for some reason.

As far as the dk gray that is sounding like the connection on the board. I don't think they were made to swap back and forth repeatedly. In my case I've been using a CF-29 to test lcd's and it finally said enuf is enuf.(sic)

Do me a favor. Let me know whether the touch screen showed up in device manager under hid. Thanks.

    G'luck to ya.

    Jeff

No the touchscreen does not show up on the s. The s has a faster processor and more memory that's why I keep trying to go back to that one. I took it apart again and found a fuse that was no good so I replaced it I will have to see if that fixes anything, it was on the board that the LCD plugs into.

For anyone that maybe having a problem with the LCD displaying. Check the fuse on the board where the LCD plugs in, mine had a 2a fuse there that was blown and replacing it fixed the display (unfortunately not the touchscreen but at least I can see whats on my screen again)
