So correct me if I'm wrong, the 19's with wlan in the US have the half wings, and the non wlan had the smooth sides? This was to keep the antennas away from the body due to fcc or something? The cf191 I just bought for for the screen has slick sides but all antennas under them and I was wondering if there were any ups or downs to either style?

Yes there is an up and down.
The winged part goes "up" the narrow part goes down.

Well, if you use a " Infocase/Always On case" you will notice right away! :)

Thanks Shawn that made my drink come out my nose lol. I have a info case I acquired a few days ago and haven't even tried it yet but now I'm going to guess it just works with the flat sides correct?

I think they are more of a crazy idea to make the lid even with the GPS bump. Totally my idea. :)
Like a big shot came along and said "that GPS is sticking out there in the breeze." "Fix it so it doesn't look stupid".
They make the lid edges a little stronger and are as ugly as sin.

I just realized my phone was changing wwan to wlan lol. So there's nothing keeping me from swapping the slicks onto my main machine then. I don't mind absorbing a Lil bit more energy for aesthetics lol.

    ya know ...
i am wondering about the supposed rf exposure limiting .
there is not enough physical difference in the covers to change anything significantly .
the fact remains that those *wings* are in fact "radomes" by definition ... and as such have to be transparent to rf .
    i lean toward the/an "esthetics" explanation .
