I was out truck shopping last week and was making a 200+mile trip to see one so I figured I would us my 19MK2 with my usb GPS to get me there and back. Guess I should of used my MK1 because with the sun I could not see a damn thing so when I got home I put them side by side. Check out the picture...would you say its the back light going (MK2 is on the left)
Well since then I pulled the back light and the inverter from my working MK1 and put it in my MK2. Still the same so anyone got any idea's

Should be few solution for it:
1) Drivers options - graphic card have 'color acceleration' or RGB settings are move into users profile. I have in my old HP DV9 in nVidia driver setting that color accelerator on and it makes gray more happy colorMaybe this is the problem way out ?
2) Cover - maybe it was useing in sun (as you have on) or from time cover make old and looks like a different ?
3) Flat panel was replacment for new one or HQ ?
Becouse question is about brignest right?
~edit: Are You kidding me? Where is 'THOUGHBOOK' sign? -

I don't think the LCD has been changed or even opened up before me. The 2 covers were stuck together real good so I would say I was the first person to open it up. I checked the screen protector and its ok...I can see around the out side edges of it and its the same color as the rest but it was a good idea
My next thing I might do is switch the lids to see what happens but the only thing is the touch works great on the mk2 but not so great on the mk1
Anyways its off to work for the next 10-12 hours -
Bon courage

I have no CF-19 right now, but in my CF52 I can switch the maximum brightness of the LCD in the BIOS between half and full level
-
I hear onces there is support for resurection from 1024x768 to 1440x900 am I right or just confiused?
-
It is not the LCD itself. Its the TS panel with dark coating that mostly you can find on CF-19 MK1 and few CF-18. On CF-18 MK1 base on my experience has different TS panel which is more darker than the MK2 and above. The type of ts panel on this machine is as the same that you can find on CF-28 13" screen.
Even if you changed with new CCFl backlight. It does no effect unless an LED backlight.
ohlip
You may also check the screen protector if does have coating. There are two types coating the way they applied. One is applied on the outer side of the protector and the other one is between the the protector and the ts panel.

Ok so what I did was I pulled the lid apart and laid the lcd down and started it up. I was hoping since there was no touch and screen protector on it that it would be nice and bright...as you can see in the picture that was not the case . Also the MK2 has 22,000 hours on it and the MK1 has only 3900 hours on it.

Check the specific model of the lcd's from the sticker on the back. It might have been replaced with a different one.
-
Let us know it is a original part or HQ

Don't remember seeing one and they both are all back together now but next week I might switch the top halfs to see if its any different.

Blair! Check the reflector of the LCD If they are different. It is the last layer at the back of the LCD. One type is just pure plastic white and the other is silver coated like a mirror. replace that one if you have an spare or dead LCD from CF-18 or 19.

I have the pure plastic white one on both the MK1 and 2

Hello, Blair, first of all let me tell you that what you experienced is probably normal.
I've seen it on a few systems, the LCD gets a yellowish tint when exposed to direct sunlight.
See if performing a full power drain fixes this.
Does your laptop have an ambient sensor, any auto-dim option enabled (BIOS, windows)? -

Afaik there are no ambient sensors on any cf-19.
-
mk6 is the first
-
They also appear to have USB 3.0. NICE!
