Ray said he was going to start stocking them.... Here we go...
-
i will wait until i can get them as my CF-29 Mk5 now.
absolutely I don't want to destroy one when I mod it (as I did with one of my Mk4 before, even if i lost some hundreds $, but at least now my Mk5 is working well with all mod that I did with it)

Crap, I just bought one... HAHA, YEAH RIGHT!
-
I prefer my computers well seasoned...
-
You know... as much as the WANT is there... that price is just plain wrong....
Just a tease.... -
A sobering thought...
Between the business and my wife and I, we own 3 vehicles. Only one of those vehicles is worth more than that laptop costs...
mnem
Maybe I need a newer car... -
And you can't drive the laptop to work....
-
That comes out with the CF-32

Again, I go back to the comment I made in another thread, what in realistic terms will this one do that our 29/30 models will not? While the "gee whiz" factor is there, will this one do the same job (or others) 200-500% better? This is one reason I have all but given up on new cars, not only are they too expensive, lose value too quickly and do not really excite like the older ones, we just aren't satisfied unless we can open it up and start modding.

The HDMI port is neat... And you could play games on it....
But then again... you could buy a CF-30 AND have enough for another PC, maybe TWO! -
If you think its expensive take a look at what your baby, 28, 29, or 30 listed for new the next time you're in the configurator. I'm with ST, it isn't that much better than my CF-30 for which I paid $1600 just about a year ago in like new condition.

I have had this discussion many times at work trying to convince my boss to go back to ToughBooks instead of the semi-rugged Dells. All she can see is the $5000 price tag. My point is that these are used in the field. Yes, we get the Dell "complete care" warranty so any repairs or accidental damage are fully covered. What is not covered is the down time for our field crews- which can bill out as high as $500 per hour. It does not take more than a couple repairs to pay for the difference. Many of our ToughBooks were in the field five years without a single repair.
Overpriced? Yes they are! But to a business who has to consider lost productivity in the equation, it does make some sense.
For what it's worth, this argument did NOT actually work in my case- just my 2 cents. Three more years of Dell for me......... -
The screen is also a lot brighter, new backlight does over 1000nit brightness.
Other then that, it's the usual upgraded spec on components. -
