I have a new CF-53AAGKY1M with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit currently activated. I want to upgrade it to 64-bit Win7.

As per NBR's Legal Windows 7 thread, apparently you can upgrade Win7 32 to Win7 64 bit for free.
Here's the difficulty: Panasonic: CF-53 Drivers (ALL)

    48 drivers, Capt'n??

Is this as EASY as it looks, or do appearances deceive me

If you are asking me, I have to date put Win 7 on: CF-18 Mk4, CF-19 MK1, CF-30 MK1(loaded drive with MK3 restore disk in MK3 then tweaked the install in the MK1), CF-30 MK3 (Restore Disk), and CF-52 MK3. I don't remember exactly how many drivers there were for the CF-52, but there were a lot. You won't need some of them, just be happy that Panasonic has provided them.

I had a similar situation recently with my new CF-19 Mk.4. Panasonic sold me a Win7/64 restore disk for $35. Worked great, fast, and easy. I would strongly recommend it as "the way to go". Have fun with your new "toy"!
