$129 VS $47? I'll stick with what I've got. Though I guess it is a good alternative for those wothout soldering skills...
-
personally i don't see using a high-bandwidth bus like mini-PCI, especially since the mobo has only two mini PCI sockets, when when all the GPS needs is a low-speed serial port that seem to be plentiful on the CF28 anyway. The price difference just makes it that much more unattractive

But for those of us without soldering skills would it work well? What would you use for an antenna? Just thinking out loud.
I can see TB's point as it would increase his costs. But for challenged folks like me a plug and play might not be too bad. -
Thanks Dragon for sharing this option with us.
Toughbook is correct that this board would add too much to the cost for anybody that is trying to build these for resale plus it takes one of your valuable mini PCI slots, but I will keep this link in my favorites because I think this might be a great option after the daughter boards dry up or for a guy has no need for WiFi and wants GPS without the headache of soldering.
I not sure why the antenna Rick is using wouldn’t work maybe someone else could answer you better than I.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Jim -
Maybe I should just learn how to solder. Really jump in heads first. But how about this option?
1. Keep my wifi card in one slot.
2. Put the 1507606 - Mini-PCI Type-III B GPS Module in the 2nd slot
3. And then get a 3Com Megahertz 10 Mbps LAN PC Card for my pcmcia slot.

Would that cover my bases? Geez, this is worse then going to Subway. I went and picked up lunch for my wife and when she took that puppy out of the bag she said "what's that???". I just told them to put everything on it.... That way I didn't have to make a decision. -
I have the opposite problem at subway. The employees all know me well enough now that I don't even say anything the whole way through... they just start making the sandwich.
I'm easy to please. -
Have we still not found a mini-pci card with decent wireless AND Ethernet/MODEM? I find it SO HARD to believe such a thing doesn't exist...

DANG! Missed Thursday AGAIN... *May have to make a late night run & pay the extra 2 bux* -
Sadly;
I have not seen an Ethernet/Wireless combo card anywhere. If somebody can find one with a good wireless chipset, I'd be happy to slap one in my book.
And sadly, the 6" subs won't fill this Irish guy up. I'll eat a 12" and the two cookies, and still feel hungry. -
As for the 6 inch/footlong issue: I know; I'm a BFP (Big Fat Polack) that's why sometimes I indulge in their 2-fer Sundays... but I STILL get the 2X meat.
The 6" 2X meat USUALLY is enough, especially since I AM TRYING to lose some weight... funny thing, I've got this brammy new baby & I want to be around to see his first day of school, first date, first touchdown, first prom, first flipped over 4x4, etc...

You think SPACE is the final frontier? Ain't NUTHIN' compared to fatherhood...
PS - OK guys - I KNOW someone's gonna HAVE to comment on the whole 6"/footlong/2X meat thing... GO ON - Get it OVER WITH...
