Im on a mission with our department Toughbooks and could use a hand...We have Verizon based units and it appears the wifi is blocked, but we are going to mifi units since we have iPads also....Ill try not to bore you with details...

    1) Wifi onboard, and external card both connect and show strong signal, but will not move packets. Wont even connect to web page.

    2) Have connected to both the mifi and a secure wifi with same results.

    Have tried:

    1) Disabling/ Uninstalling all Gobi and VZW software.

    2) Disabling onboard wifi (bios)and using a card.

    3) Disable WLAN. (bios)

    Any ideas?

Interesting.. Quite a few reads, but no attempts... Do I need to put a $25 Paypal bounty on this thing??...LOL.. It does mean quite a bit to my crew to get this going...

The complete model number might help. Are they all the same model and configuration? Also the bios and EC versions may tell if you have some specialized versions.

    Okay...

They are all the same setup...

    CF-19FJGAGAM (MK2)
    Vista Business
    Phoenix Tech. Ltd. v2.00L15, 6/19/2008

If I plug a hardline from the same router it does fine.. But once off that, no connection... If I manage through Windows or the Intel Pro its the same... Shows connected and strong signal but wont get out on the net and very few packets moved...

Look in the Control Panel > Programs and Features and see if you have a program called Wireless Connection Disable Utility Application or something similar. If so, uninstall it.

Sounds like you have them both active at the same time. I had Verizon MiFi and then switched to GOBI with Verizon. Verizon has the ZVAccessManager as you know. Are they different versions? Are they both running at the same time? If so, may be conflict in mac address or ip config..... Just an idea....

    db04p71:

Don't have anything listed like that.. Even checked with revo-uninstalled to make sure.. The only ones I'm not sure of are:

    Gobi drivers
    Gobi image
    Ambirscan
    Panasonic common components
Wireless switch utility ( just operates side switch I'm sure)

    gijoe4us:

I have disabled all other connections but doesnt look like the Gobi software is gone... I want it to be wifi only, and un-installed access manager... We disconnected the service in the actual laptop to go to a mifi to get more from our connection...

If you won't be using the Gobi card I'd disable the WWAN in the bios. Ambirscan is scanning software. Leave common components alone. Wireless switch utility is a software utility in the notification area of the taskbar. Make sure everything you want on or off shows correctly in the utility.

It does... Everything is on but WLAN.. I made sure GOBI and VZAcess are gone also... I still can connect to the WIFI but no data transfer...

I have built gaming desktops for years, but this has me puzzled...

If you are at home using your wi-fi router. Try to reset your router to renew an IP address. It will be done not by pushing a pin( you will loose your password) but just unplugiing the AC adaptor of your router for a few second and then plug it in again and wait untill all was done.

Sorry! I am lazy to go back and read all the post.

Last evening my network was running a tad slow so I reset both the modem and router... I also turned off and back on the mifi to try that...

Try disabling the WWAN in the BIOS, forgot that one..... It will turn off the internal GOBI.... Then you can leave the wireless on and make a connection.... Try that and see what happens.

That was the first thing I did before I tried the connection... Then took the software out also along with VZW items to make sure... It still sees the wifi and connects with great signal but no movement....

Sounding like a DHCP or other type issue with something in the internet connections set wrong and not getting configured correctly. Don't have that issue with my setup. I can go from WiFi at home, connecting no problem and full access, then transition to GOBI and connect with no problem. Check all of your Windows internet settings IE.. IPv4 Ipv6 connections, provider, gateways, dns servers, gateways, etc.. something is not setup right in this. Is windows configured to handle or something else? Let me know where you get.....

After all that it was something stupid.. A Norton firewall had it blocked since it was out of date... I uninstalled norton, put in AVG, and we can now run all our public safety programs while using the iPads for the newer stuff... Thx for all the assistance...

I did locate discs for mk1 mk2 mk3 and the Panasonic driver during this project though...

Good deal!!! One of thee big reason I hate most all antivirus programs is port blocking! Windows defender in Win7 Ultimate works great along with Windows firewall........

Perhaps stupid to suggest but did you check the windows firewall?

If so, run a packet sniffer on your laptop and look for any data from those interfaces, if nothing else you should see broadcast traffic if they're enabled.

I realize this will only work if the hardware isn't disabled.
