Hi.
I'm planning to buy Toughbook T5/T7. I'm a want light, yet durable notebook.
I'm confused about weight of these models. T5 sold in Japan weighs 1.26kg/2.8lbs with standard battery, while T5 sold in US and EU is stated to weigh 1.51kg/3.3lbs with standard battery.
T7 sold in Japan weighs 1.18kg/2.6lbs with standard battery, while T7 sold in US and EU is stated to weigh 1.39kg/3.1lbs with standard battery.
What is the reason for this weight difference? Gravitation difference? At least Japanese models are missing integrated bluetooth module.
Or has anyone who owns japanese or american model weighed this notebook, to tell if the above weights are correct?
Thanks.

Is there any spec difference between the two, e.g. the one in Japan doesn't come with a specific card, or something?

The explanation for this is that the standard Japanese battery is smaller and has a lower capacity (5 hours). In the USA the T7 comes by default with Japan's heaviest and largest battery, which runs for 10 hours.

Japanese sites say T5 weighs 1.04kg with lightweight 6 hours battery and 1.26kg with standard 12-14hours battery. For example:

T7 is said to weigh 1.18kg with 10 hours battery in Japan:

I just found out that american T5/T7 models have all touch screen. Could this be the explanation? -
I was too fast... I apologize for that.
this issue was also briefly discussed in another forum,

I think the most reliable information can be found at

The touchscreen could make the difference.
