wOW, I just got my hands on a Newton Peripherals Mogo BT PCMCIA mouse, and this thing is cool! I know there are a couple other threads on this, but they were locked, so, here....

I had bought the x54 express version by accident, for $22, and then turned around, and sold it the day I got it, for $30, and then bought the pcmcia version for $20, I erred in my favor!

I threw one of those $2 micro BT adpters on cn18, and viola! Does anyone know of better software compatible with those, I'm using IVT BlueSoleil right now, and it's cumbersome. I'll try the Panasonic BT here in a few minutes (but think it won't be compatible)

Anyway, it's BT, stores and charges in the PCMCIA slot, it's ergonomic, and the range is pretty good. I was afraid it would be too fragile or uncomfortable, but it's not. I have medium to large hands with semi-sausage fingers, and can use it with no problem.
    And it matches my CF-29.

I also installed te scroll software which is pretty good too. I haven't tried it with autocad, but it seems pretty good too. It's small and light too.

Just thought I would throw it out there...

I use the Toshiba bluetooth stack. Google it and find it on the Toshiba Europe site. There you can download their latest. It works great, much better than the BlueSolei, IMO. The downside is it's made for Toshiba products only and the "trial" expires after 30 days. So every month you have to re-install. Even with that hassle I think it's worth it, works better than anything else I've found.

I'm gonna play with the Panasonic ones more as well to see if I can find one to work. I've had a heck of a time trying to install the Panasonic (Toshiba) bluetooth. It's a Toshiba stack licensed to Panny. It may be written expressly for the OEM Panasonic Bluetooth hardware because after installing it's like nothing happened, i.e. it does'nt recognize my bluetooth dongle when plugged in. One also has to manually extract the archive if it does not detect the OEM Bluetooth.

Just tried the Panny bluetooth stack meant for the CF-30 MK1. It's working just like the one downloaded directly from Toshiba, i.e. 30 day trial. However it's an older version which has conflicts with Win 7. Think I'm gonna stick with the new ones directly from Toshiba for now.

I have one of the PC card ones... I love it! I paid $75 for it about 5 years ago when I still had my CF-29

Haven't had a chance to download the scroll software yet but this MoGo is a blast and I'm glad you posted the info. I am wondering if it is possible to somehow get the usb dongle I have in the back usb port of my cf29hwqgzbm shaved down for the fraction of an inch needed to close and lock the back door - yes, I've read the excellent posts on the moding of micro usb devices, but most involve soldering which I just am not set up to do. Failing an ever so slight grinding of the plastic dongle tip (which will probably zap it), is there a dongle I missed on Fleabay that is small enough to insert into the usb port in back and still close the door??

yes, you have to find the bt dongle that is flat instead of rounded.

also, I've learned if you are using the touchpad panny drivers, you can click left and right at the same time to get the equivalent of clicking a scroll wheel, btw.

The pico dongle would be much easier of course, especially considering you do not have a soldering setup. My motivation was I already had the dongle on hand and it was less than $3.00 with shipping to obtain it.

As far a soldering without the setup, you can also use something like this " Wire glue" product no soldering iron needed.
If I had a product like this and laid it on before I broke the antenna in the Easy US bluetooth MOD thread, I likely could have just folded it over to make a very compact module.
In fact when I first broke the antenna it it did stay attached (this was my initial intent for the design), but the PBC trace was too weak and it shortly broke, leading me to my first generation mod.

Just got my mogo mouse in a few days ago, and I love it. The convience of having it store/charge in the PCMCIA slot is amazing. I would have paid double the 19.95 I did on tiger direct. Great stuff. Thanks to Toughbook for recommending it to me.

I use the Express Card one in my CF30 and really like it.
I think it drains my battery while charging if I don't use the machine for a feww weeks and forget to turn the mouse off?

It is the most convenient solution I have for sure.

Funny thing is that I shot some Sony EXCAM HD Video a few weeks ago and it uses Express Card Storage.
So I got to use the slot for something else at last, now I was having fun!

    Love my CF30.

so far as I know, they draw current till they're charged, and then only use a nominal amount (10's of mw) to check/maintain thier battery. They have lipo chargers, it only charges when the battery circuit tells it too.... AFAIK.

Yes... One of my customers turned me onto the Mogo mouse. Personally I like the touchpad/touchscreen on my laptops and don't like a lot of clutter... Even if it can be tucked back in... I guess it is all in what you get used to.

However.... If I WERE to buy a mouse for a laptop... It would be the Mogo Mouse.

    Glad you like it! ;)

Yeah... my Dull has a IR remote for the DVD player that stores in the ExpressCard slot; I WISH they'd had their brains on & made that a mouse too... or at least INSTEAD.

I know MoGo has an ExpressCard version; I just can't make myself pay $50 for a mouse that doesn't make you breakfast in the morning. ;)

I'm one of those weird people who actually LIKES TouchPads; for years I kept a 5x6 Alps model permanently attached to my favorite IBM/Lexmark keyboard (you know the ones... loud clicky, positive detent feel just like an old IBM Selectric II... and heavy enough to use as a club) so it would lay across my lap; I used to call it my Ono-Sendai. ;)

Oh... and don't forget the Tropicana...

durdyB, We have had mixed results with AKE products. I was briefly (about 15 minutes) the US importer for their USB cards. If they work, cool, but their quality is all over the place.

Since the MoGo BT PC Card Mouse has "scurried" back into the forum via another thread .... ;)

Here's the source for the MoGo Scrolling Software and the Installation Instructions.
