    Adblock plus
    (I recommend Fanboy's filter list.)
    Adblock plus Elements

These are Firefox add ons that block ads. Plus the Elements will block ANY specific item from any web page. The categories mouseover drop down menu on Ebay drives me nuts. With this I was able to block that specific item.

Battery bar. It is a simple program that lets you monitor how much time is left on the battery and sits on the lower toolbar at all times.

    Avast! free antivirus
    Syncback backup.
I am also a chrome convert. I never really cared for Mozzilla/Firefox but chrome is pretty slick.

Stellarium runs terribly slow on my CF-29... any tips on how to speed it up? It's using 100% CPU and only getting 1FPS even in no OpenGL mode...

I recommend 2 bits of free software from *GULP* Micro$oft.

    1) The Malicious Software Removal Tool:

Malicious Software Removal Tool | Protect Your Computer

They update it regularly, it works, and it's free. Good to see M$ finally stepping up to the plate on this one; it's about time.

Also note the link on this page to their online malware scanner; it can save yer arse in the field if you find you suddenly can't use an optical drive to load your favorite "Big Guns" disc...

    2) Microsoft Security Essentials:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

It works, it's free, and it runs lean & mean for a real-time scanner; I heartily recommend it for anyone using a native Win7 PC. Users with XP or upgrading to Win7 may not have enough horsepower to run ANY real-time protection; you have to try it to see.

So... there you have it. a free internet prophylactic and a free day-after-pill that work; BOTH from M$.

I runs fine on my CF-28, between 12 and 13 FPS, but I am using an SSD in my computer, before I switched from a 7200 RPM Hitachi it was very slow and probably ran at about 1 to 2 frames per second.

I am also running Microsoft Plus and with the SSD I have, the 3D screen savers run very well.

    As the Dwagon suggests:

I use it on XP, Vista, and Win7 with no problems.

I personally use Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus, but it doesn't say whether or not  it supports 64-Bit Windslows Seventh Effort. ;)

However, their Avira AntiVir Premium version says it does.

I got it figured out last night :) Now I'm running around 25-35FPS.

I replaced the drivers for my CF-29 graphics card with the ones from the Intel site. They support OpenGL whereas the drivers that come with Windows XP don't support OpenGL. I guess I just had the Windows set of drivers.

    I don't have much to contribute,but

In over a year I have not used any anitvirus on my Cf-19 running W7

Two months ago my msn was hacked, all people on my contact list were spammed !!
I think It happened when I clicked an invite link from an unknown (untrusted) person

Scratch off one hotmail account, and about a handful of friends on my contact list including Toughbook and Teo

    mnem....To do list
Got to read up on this thing called Conficker

Ya can't blame the program cuz y'all got 1.3 TB of llama pr0n on yer HDD.

Seriously... I was talking about the real-time scanning aspect; not the file scanning aspect. They ALL RUN SLOW if you've got a full HDD; ESPECIALLY if you've got a really big drive on an older machine.

Yeah the 320 take a while and Good Luck if you try that CCleaner wipe free space 35 passes option. Leave it plugged in, turn off the sleep cycles, and go to work pretty much.
