Does anyone know if any of the other, more powerful, Panasonic motherboards will fit in a CF-29 case? It would be pretty interesting if some of them had the same, or even just a similar footprint to fit in the rugged CF-29 case. Maybe one out of a more powerful semi-tough model?

I have never seen the insides of anything but a CF-25 and a CF-29 so I have no way of knowing.

Do you mean like a CF50, CF51 or similar in a CF29 case? I think the MB's are too large. I will try to measure one of my 50's and see. I don't have any disassembled at the moment, so I will improvise.

That's like putting a viper engine into a truck... Ohh wait, Dodge did that :D...

Good question. I would be 99.999% positive that the answer is no though...

Well, anything is possible as long as you are willing to beat it to fit, weld it to stay and paint it to match.
Personally I like the idea of looking to the seemingly impossible to find new possibilities.
I can tell you that a CF50 mb is too wide. I just checked.

Anybody have a Macbook to measure? :D
It may be blasphemy but a netbook mb would be the best guess I have.

The problem with faster processers is the need to cool them
The semi rugged models that have better specs use a fan to aid cooling

That is understood, but there are margins that you can work within. I have no ambitions of replacing my 1.6 GHz Centrino with a Quad Core i7, but perhaps a dual core...which is adequately cooled by a CF-19 case which has less thermal mass for cooling then my CF-29.
