Just wondering if I can use a power adapter listed for a CF-28 or CF-29 on my CF-30. Ebay has a couple of these adapters for my port replicator (CF-WEB2732) pretty cheap but they do not state they are compatible with the CF-30.

The DC tip on the CF-28 and the older docs are like this Lind adapter.

CF-29 and 30 uses a different tip. BTW....Only buy LIND...not cheap knock offs for mobile use.

You need to match the power supply to the dock, the computer doesn't care. x2 on the Lind recommendation.

This is in the FAQ, but since you didn't read it I'll explain below:

    1) CF-29/30/31/18/19/52/74/73 - all take the newest type model AC adapter that has NO PIN in the center

    2) CF-28/27 - take the OLD TYPE power adapter like the SONY VAIO's have

Notwithstanding Rob's elucidation, the important information is what model was the dock originally intended for, that's the plug the dock will require.

I'm sorry, yes, I can be a bit blunt at times (can't we all), but if you have the older type docking bay it will take the old style power adapter (IE, the one with the pin in it).

    w00t!

@Grif054: this is the one you want for your application; and while the price is reasonable ( $39.99 :)), ths S/H ( $16.50 ) seems excessive to me. :swoon:

Thank all of you for your help. I have not been on in a couple of days, (working a lot). Once again, I appreciate all of your Toughbook knowledge! I will be ordering today, I just did not want to order the wrong one and possibly do harm to the CF-30.
