Do what you gotta do just make sure it clears air bag deployment.

Well, it looks sturdy! I like two mounting points or more to minimize flexing during rough conditions.

I'm sure it's not going to come apart; heck, with the tubing you're using, it would be 10x strong enough even without the 3rd side of the triangle.

You may find it wants to work loose or wobble a little at the slip joint at the base; if so, add a 2nd t-bolt at 90 degrees & about 1" higher than the one that's there (or, as high as it can go and will still contact the inner peg squarely). That will make it solid as it can be short of making that inner peg longer. Use really thick, large-as-possible flat washers between the bolts and the sheet metal of your floorboard to maximize rigidity; this is where you'll likely see the most wiggledy-wobbledy-ness.

    Nicely done!

if youd have made a flat plate and attached it to the seat anchor bolts than attached the stand to that. I think it'd be more sturdy

like your ingenuity and a really sturdy looking setup. It's good that necessity is the mother of invention, I've been accused of over-engineering many projects, but that is what toughbooks are all about, looks good to me!........Driller

I made a plate same size as the top one to go on the under side of floor board, it's not going anywhere. (the bottom plate is next to the top one in the photo in first post of them bein painted)

Its sturdy so far, hardly any movement. The bolt gets super tight, and if it starts loosenin up imma grind a flat spot on the post so it wont spin or move.

Painted and mounted with 1/2" bolts and nylock washers.

Went on about a 200 mile drive saturday and the thing did awesome, love the LIND charger and was so cool havin the GPS antenna and streets & trips on the big screen to navigate with. Im also super impressed with the WIFI reception on the stock antenna! I was picking up 10 & 12 wifi networks that showed good signal strength whereas my iPhone was showing none or maybe 1.

After seeing your vehicle mounts I am inspired to show what I came up with.
Being cheep in my book, is the mother of invention, so I looked around the garage to see what I could adapt and also have it work well and look good also. Noticed an old Dish Network dish and support laying in the corner I decided some of the parts would work and came up with this,,

Hey - Necessity is the mother of invention. I used one of those to mount a 3m marine cellular antenna on my RV. The panel I needed to attach to was angled; that plate & curved tube not only let me get it exactly vertical, it made it stand off the back of the vehicle.

I've seen them used for lots of "other stuph" besides the satellite dish; mounts for external WiFi antennas, Wireless bridges, an electric remote-controlled spotlight...

I wonder what our other members have "re-purposed" one of those mounts for?
