i HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH THESE MACHINES FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS AND I DON'T KNOW WHY THE BATTERY GOES DEAD IN THE MACHINE AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS BUT WILL STAY AT ALMOST 100% IF STORED FOR MONTHS IN THE BAG OUT OF THE COMPUTER.

That's a good question. I was wondering that myself. I have a CF 50 I am getting ready to sell. The battery stays at 100% for weeks if left out of the machine. I put it in the laptop and it loses power. I didn't even turn it on. It was 100% when I shut it off and a few days later when I restarted it, it was at 85%.

I notice a battery drain when not powered up for a while
I leave the battery's in them
Even on the newest cf-30's with newish battery's
I am too lazy to take them out to see if they last longer though

I also noticed this with my toughbooks. I fully charge them, then unplug from the wall. Turn it on a week later and the battery is at < 100%. Maybe 70-80% Never noticed this kind of battery drain in my other laptops.

Just have a look in to the schematic diagram and u will see, what stupid circuits will not cut off from the mainpower... USB i.e.....
it's a design problem of the accu control part. -
Gets me thinking about modding a kill switch between the battery and the mainboard in my 29. If I can figure a way to make it look professional and not some big honkin toggle switch duct taped to the handle. I know I can just remove the batt, but a switch would be simpler.

Rick (Toughbook) had an idea on a magnetic reed switch at one time
It would operate when the lid was opened
Finding a high enough capacity could be an issue

It might be the "Wake on LAN" feature. I read in one of the TB manuals that it uses "minimal" power in Standby mode, but that if you turn off Wake on LAN (in the BIOS) then the power drain in Standby is almost as low as Hibernate.

Something I was told a while back was if I was not going to us it for a while to pop the battery door open and pull the battery out just a bit. So now when I grab my 18 I always have a full battery and that is after sitting on a shelf for months
