    Hello again chaps,

    I am running a delphi programme on my cf-18 notebook. Half the time when you double click the delohi icon the programme won't open. Even if you right click on the icon then select open the programme wont load. When this happens I have to re-boot the computer a couple of times and eventually it will run when you double click/open the file. If it does'nt open straight away after start up it won't then open until you re-boot it.

    Also on the odd occassions it does work when you close it down and come out of the programe it won't then re-open. So it only ever works after initial start up.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    For those like me who have no idea what Delphi DS150e is.

    Delphi DS150E

    A PC based version of the DS100E, the DS150E takes all the functionality and coverage of the DS100E and transfers it onto a PC platform. Using the latest Bluetooth wireless technology our DS150E offers the same extensive coverage of on board electronic systems on petrol and diesel applications. It offers the user continued mobility and flexibility, whilst providing the added benefit of results being shown clearly on a PC screen. And because it can be operated from a garage’s existing PC, this reduces the cost of investment, making it an exceptional value tool. Like the DS100E, the addition of Diesel Max software, enables garage focused diagnostics on Delphi equipped vehicles. It’s also easy to upgrade, with regular updates available to keep the user in step with the latest OE technology.

    DS150E USER GUIDE

    HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

    Pentium 800mhz or better

    250mb hard drive space.
    1024 x 768, 16 bit high color

    Please give the full model number of your cf18.
    Also how much memory does it have?
    If you have a cf18 mk1, it is a 900mhz machine which barely meets the hardware requirements.

    B=Mk1 with 900MHz Pentium (and troublesome Intel 2100 wifi)
    D=Digitizer display
    L=40GB hard drive + 512MB memory

    Shawn is right, your model is close to minimum performance. If you loaded XP service pack 3 (SP3) that consumes more overhead than SP2 and may contribute to the problem. You might try loading DS150E on a faster computer. If that works, consider a Mk4/5 model CF-18 with 1.2 GHz cpu, or better, a CF-19 which is only slightly more expensive. Also recommend a touchscreen model, not digitizer, so it will work with your finger.

    Cheers thanks a lot for that.

    Ive only just brought it as a job lot already on the computer. I should of reaserched the model of cf-18 more.

    Can I upload xp service pack 2 or increase my ram or anything like that as I'm stuck with this computer now really?

    Thanks,

    Lance.

    Some tweaks can help with speed also if needed. Go to start button, control panel and then pull up SYSTEM. You will see how much ram you have and it will show the cpu speed. It will also show what version you are running of windows. IF it has a service pack uploaded it will say so on that tab. After we see what kind of ram you have I will start with some of the tweaks to help speed the system up.

    That's very little ram to run anything, probably your biggest problem. Buy a 1GB stick of DDR SODIMM memory - *not* DDR 2. Remove the panel on the bottom that contains the speaker, careful with the speaker wires, and put in the memory stick. Bet it runs much better and loads DS150E much faster.

    Yes it does look like ram is your biggest problem right now. Upgrade that and if it still doesn't seem to perform well, time for the tweaks.

    Try going to windows update and downloading all the updates for winXp.
    Maybe a netframework or such type of problem.

    Can you delete Delphi and reinstall it?

    Sometimes stuff like this will drive you crazy. I have a CF-T7 at home that I haven't been able to run either crystal disk mark or crystal disk info on. Those programs want to open with firefox for some reason. All other exe programs are fine. I have tried several fixes and still a no go. lol. I will get back to trying to fix it one day.
