Downloaded the battery calibration tool yesterday, started the calibration process last night before turning in, restarted the machine this a.m., and my screen is stuck on dim--barely readable. The f1 and f2 features do not work.

I also downloaded the 3 other tools from the Panasonic site: the handwriting app, fan control, and dashboard. Dashboard and fan didn't actually work, but both were tried hours before I started calibration. The 31 had also been restarted twice after all tools had been installed and the screen had remained bright and the f1 and f2 keys worked properly. Any ideas?

Oh, and the screen brightness slider in Settings doesn't affect the screen. The slider moves, but w/o effect.

Make sure your computer has the display driver installed. If you click on the battery icon can you brighten the display?

    Steve,
Earlier I'd checked display driver via "update display driver" and it said "your system has latest driver already installed." Same with graphics driver (if those two are different, can't remember)

When I clicked on battery icon on taskbar, the battery saver screen pops up and allows me to slide from "best performance" to "battery saving" as it did before. No effect on screen brightness. I also uninstalled everything that was installed yesterday, restarted, problem persists.

I did mine last night to, but I used the F9 on start up method. It took all night as the battery was very low. The only thing I noticed was that it stayed on the Panasonic screen for a long time on the first start up. Every thing works fine, so I would think it was some thing that was downloaded. I hate it when things like that happen and it is normally something silly. Best of luck finding it.

I've done the calibrations in 29s and 30s with no problem, so this one's a head scratcher. If I can't fix it there's always the option of re-migrating the stuff from the original hd to the ssd again, but that would mean erasing lots of tweaks I've been doing over the past two weeks. Egad.

The display driver should be a Intel hd 4000

Brightness is back! What the hell? After uninstalling various Panasonic tools, I restarted to no effect. I shut it down, did a few chores, came back and read Steve's latest post, turned the machine on to check the driver and it started up bright as day. f1 and f2 work fine. Huh?

Question: is there a difference--where system changes are concerned-- between pressing "restart" in Windows 10 and pressing "shut down" and letting the machine sit? I mean, I know that can make a difference in the "analogue" world of old cars tube TVs, but computers?

I can't give you an actual, but on some downloads or tweaks I have had to shut down twice for things to take affect.
When I talk to my kid it takes some times a dozen times to take affect   :)

restart sometimes just logs off and logs back on.

Holding power button a few seconds usually assures a full shut down- Make sure the Panasonic boot logo appears during a full reboot.

When the bios is confused battery/power pull reset is the first thing I do. Ummmm instructions below in red.

And yes sometimes rebooting twice can do the same thing.

The third and last W10 install I did, the computer was not shutting off entirely.
