I'm looking at a device that includes a CAC card reader. I do not wish to use DoD security device. If it is installed, do I have to use it, or is use of it optional for owner of device?

I have owned Toughbooks that had those devices and I did not need to use them.

    Thanks Shawn!

So if I purchase device with the CAC reader, it will not prevent me from using that device if I have no CAC card?

An external keyboard with CAC card reader, USB, and ethernet.
