I am interested in working outdoors. When they say outdoor readable how clear is the screen, does it get washed out by sunlight? Do you actually use it outdoors, in sunlight, for long periods of time? Which toughbook do you use?

I have also noticed that polarized glasses interfere with many computer screens. Do any of you wear polarized glasses while using a toughbook?

I'm afraid that I can't answer your specific questions, but I would like to tell you that the brighter the screen (measured in nits), the better you will be able to use it outside without the screen washing out.

I only know one thing about all laptops. So far no company can make a laptop screen that can stand direct sunlight for extended periods of time. The screen will overheat after too long.

Toughbook or not so toughbook, you would definatelly need a matte yet very bright screen for working outdoors.

    probably not :)

I once dropped one from a little above waist high with windows running and the screen open on to a concrete floor...it didn't phase the computer at all...
