Does ECO mode work for models other than T5?

I've been working with several CF-T5 recycled units that have the ECO mode set, which stops battery charging at 80%. The batteries show hundreds of cycles but have impressive remaining capacity (as reported by Panasonic PC Info Viewer) for example 300+ cycles @ 100%, 600+ cycles @ 70%+. These units came from a hospital and I'd guess they saw several charge cycles every day.

So it would be great to use the ECO mode on other models. I tried simply loading the driver files (chgbmode_d051027) on an earlier W2 model and it loaded without errors but doesn't bring up a GUI to run. Anyone tried this on other models, or know of another way to limit charging for models without that build-in?

Here's a graph of ECO mode

I don't know anything aobut eco-mode on my CF-19, but this is the first time I found PC Info Viewer. So thanks to you I found out I have a battery capacity of 61870. My battery health after 103 total charge index is therefore 100%+ I guess as it is a 58000mW battery?!
I don't take special care, I just use it a lot. When I have an outlet or car within reach I charge it, when I don't have that, I use it. Often down to 20-40% charge, sometimes down to 5-7%.

Edit: so if I get two/three batteries and use Eco-mode, I might stil easily get through the whole day, but my batteries have about twice the lifetime?!
    That's something to consider.

Edit-Edit: can't find any Eco-mode, but I do have a "hot-weather-mode" in my bios that I can set and then it also doesn't charge further than 80% capacity to protect the battery. It's now in automode and it then selects that automatic.

You have a veeery expensive CF-19 MK5. It's very strange for me to see your concern about battery care :))))
You can get 3 batteries and use them fully (~0-100% charge) for a few years. In this case you will use your PC (20% more battery), not your PC will use you :)
    IMHO

About 103% of battery life - try to recalibrate battery. It will give you more correct info.

On the used batteries on the T5's I have I still get over 2hrs on them. Don't think I have ever tried ECO mode on them.

You are right about that, but hey, what can I say, I'm cheap :D

In my defence, I do use the i5 and 8Gb of memory quite often to the max, so there is some reason to a mk5. And after going through Macbooks at ar increasing speed, I want this to last several years. Little did I know when I bought my mk5, they can easily last 5 years and with care and moderate demands even longer.

But with my current battery I have to plan my access to AC-outlets (or the car via the DC-charger) or else I'm 20-40% battery capacity short at least a few days a week. Certainly when using my 3G connection a lot. So with a second battery I wouldn't have to worry about total capacity and I could easily have the eco-mode on.
Then again, if I spend 150 bucks a year on a battery, what should I worry about eco mode?
OTOH it is much better for the environment and a lot of little savings makes a lot of money :D
    decisions, decisions, decisions..... lol

I'm not sure about "Eco Mode", but Toughbooks have had a "high temperature" setting in bios (Main tab>Environment) for years which will do the same thing, ie. stop charging the battery at 80%. I have always used this setting and I seem to get pretty good battery life. I wonder how many people have ever read the "Useful Tips" which always appears on your desktop when you load the OS with restore disks. If you read them you don't need to pay attention to all of the conflicting "expert opinions" on battery life. Panasonic, possibly the largest battery manufacturer in the world, goes into great detail on the subject.

Since you asked, the CF-W8 also has Eco Mode. I've been using it since reading that it helps prolong the life of batteries that don't get recharged a lot. Mine is mostly plugged in, and once a month I do the battery recalibration.

You can add CF-W7 to the list of "eco-mode" supporting units.
