I know that this should probably be in the "For Sale" area but I don't know if anyone here looks in there... So I figured I would post here. (Mods... Please don't move this thread!)

I am looking for a CF-28 in good condition... Preferably a 1Ghz with a CD Rom but will take an 800Mhz. I'm not interested in 600Mhz. I'd like for all port covers to be intact. I don't care about RAM or GPS... I just need a good base unit to modify.

Please either post here or PM me to let me know. I can Paypal immediately if we can agree on terms and I get to see a few pictures.
    Thanks,
    Rick

You were almost in luck. The guy that bought my 600Mhz one is having too much of a hard time installing windows 98, and getting everything to work with it. (Wireless card in particular). He wants to ship it back, so I'm gonna have to resell it.

If you do ever need a port cover, I do have a spare PCMCIA and MP bay cover you can have.

I'll take the PCMCIA cover... I need one for my parts unit that I am going to rebuild once I find a motherboard.

    I have one. CF-28 touchscreen. 800mhz, 512mb RAM, 30GB HD

Running Windows XP with valid license. Office 2003 valid license installed as well. Other than that, it's been sitting in my closet for 2 years doing nothing. I powered it on to verify it works, and it does. All port covers are present. I have 2 batteries, the power adapter, and an external battery charger. Also have the floppy drive and external drive cable.

Make me an offer via PM. I'm paypal verified, and will pay for shipping.

I'm still looking for CF-28s... Any condition really but would prefer 800s & 1000s with all port covers. Must be touchscreen preferably with 13" screen.

I'd also like to pick up a CF-29 if I could get one at a good price.

Pease PM me and let me know!

    Rick

Any particular reason why you want a 29? I didn't think much of the one I had. Yuk!

    ----

I have a new rubber keyboard and a strip of PC100 256MB Panasonic RAM if anyone is interested.

Also, does anyone have any CD/DVD drive parts? The little plastic optical arm broke on one of mine.

would you say that the 29 is a step BACKWARDS from a 28? surprising, as they have been making solid improvements from the 25 to the 28 and the 28

I have a few bare CD/DVD drives at home, i will be back next week and can give you a list of what i've got if that'll help you

In my opinion, yes. The 29 has all of the stuff that we're all throwing into the 28, i.e., wireless, bluetooth, etc. so no plus there. The 29 also has the Centrino processor which is suppose to extend battery life by almost twice as much over the 28. However, I didn't see it. My 1GHz 28, on a fresh charge, will run a good 6-8 hours using Word or simple software, the longest of any laptop I have ever had. My 29 would go a few hours at best. After having a 28 and then using a 29, I felt cheated from a durability standpoint. Reduce the weight, reduce the durability in my humble opinion. The 28 is a Toughbook. The 29 is a fat laptop. I found my 29 on eBay for $1,000, kept it a few months and became so disappointed with it I flipped it for $1,500, so the 29 was good for something after all. If you had a 29 a moved up to a 30 it might not be so noticeable but the 28 to the 29 was too much for me to handle. "Yield to tonnage" I always say.
