Just bought a CF-19 (I believe MK1) and having it shipped to a friend in America who is in turn going to ship it to me here in Japan, so I'd like to get everything all together so I only have to ship one box.

My question is, do I need a caddy for an optical drive (CD/DVD drive) on a CF-19 or does the drive slide right in? Also, I have a CF28 back in America right now as well (not shipping it over), will that optical drive fit if I take it out of its caddy?

Ohhhh, no kidding. Didn't know that. Can I tell bios to run through the USB and install windows from the external CD drive or will I have to install it on the bench?

Oh crap, actually I think I bought a MK2 and not a MK1... I know it probably makes no difference.

While I'm here, I need a recovery disk, anybody know where I could obtain one? Also, anybody want to sell me an external DVD/CD rom?

Did you know that this is a Digitizer and not a touchscreen. Do you know if the 19 has a pen for the screen. When loading the OS just set the BIOS boot order as the usb cd-rom to boot first. You should be able to find the external cd-rom cheaper in Japan than here. The link I posted for the cd was very cheap , these always sell for twice that price if not more.

I made sure the pen came with the unit and I wanted to try out a digitizer. A dual touch would have been cool but this will work for my needs just fine. I assume with a digitizer I can rest my hand against the screen while I write with the pen, which is why I wanted it; or did I misunderstand what a digitizer is?

I'll go ahead and just grab the cd-rom here then. I'm actually shipping everything as I buy it to a friend of mine who in turn is shipping it here for me.

    Thanks!

Your hand will not affect a digitizer in any way. It only responds to the pen input.

The best OS for it will be XP tablet or 7. I have put both on them. The Mk2 is a little better as it has the core2duo so it's 64 bit. If you have a usb and a ISO image you can load up your OS that way.
