I bought a Panasonic Let's Note series CF-W5 laptop about 6 months ago. It is the Japanese version of the Toughbook. It came with a Japanese OS. After I bought it, I installed Windows XP in English. I had all the drivers installed as well. It seemed to be working well at the time. A couple of months later, I had a few problems with the machine and therefore re-installed Windows XP in English. I also had the drivers re-installed. However, since then, I have been unable to use some functions. These problems include some of the keyboard functions (for example the brightness and volume controls). I am also completely unable to use the wireless LAN. In addition, I cannot get the built-in microphone to work. These are some of the obvious problems I am having among others.

I have tried to install the drivers but still cannot figure out how to fix the problems. As a result, I recently took my machine to the Panasonic Service Center here in Tokyo. They told me that since it is not an English system, they cannot help me. They claimed to have attempted to install the drivers with no success. The thing is that I seemed to have most or all of the functions working at one time before.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

best thing todo is go by ur model number and download the drivers, firstly un-install or upgrade the existing drivers one by one, the hot keys can be a problem if the wrong drivers are installed, best bet down load fresh drivers making sure you read up on each driver before downloading, if i have time i'll send a link of where to download........
but what you have describe it just some driver problems ur having also, have you enable the wifi feature in the bios???????

Thanks for your reply. Last night I spent an hour or more and re-installed every driver from the site. I managed to get the WiFi working but not the keyboard functions. When I re-installed them, I think it forced me to uninstall the drivers I already had. Anyway, sure if you could assist me in getting the keyboard functions to work it would be truly appreciated.

Have you tried registering with the Panasonic website so you can download drivers?

Capper, if you PM me, I may be able to give you the drivers from my old W5K. It was a Japanese spec W5 that Dynamism had converted to US spec Win Xp.

Where can I find the Drivers? I purchased a Japanese Spec CF-W5K that had had the drive erased. I reinstalled US Windows XP but am unsure on the drivers. All I could find on the Pnasonic site was drivers for the W5M and
    W5L.
Are these the same as far as internal components go? Any help wit hthe drivers would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmmm... I did a search of all the sites I use and was stumped too. Have you tried ebay? There are a few that sell driver & BIOS bundles.
