I was going to do this mod ,but I never got around to it
You only need to tap into 5Vdc usb and interface to the keyboard power input

Quite easy , no control on brightness though

I wonder if the adapter board from a CF-28 might provide the brightness control. There were actually 2 kinds of "Texas" boards that support an emissive keyboard in later CF-28's. The more common one produces high voltage for the green emissive keyboard. But there is also a low voltage version that supports a CF-29 style emissive keyboard in a CF-28. It looks almost the same as the high voltage Texas board, but is missing the 7 or 8 white capacitors.

Like Alex, I had aspirations for making this work. I've got next week off so maybe this would be the time to figure out the CF-74 emissive keyboard mod.
