    Hello,

Just fitted a new emmisive keyboard to my cf31J. When I boot the pc and tried to turn on the backlighting, nothing! When you press the Fn key the banner comes up along the top with the options for F1-F10 but not F11&F12. I reinstalled the hotkeydrivers. Uninstalled the Hotkey appendix and settings. Then reinstalled them. But still nothing. There doesn't seem to be an option to toggle on the backlighting in bios. What am I missing?

    OK I'm an idiot!

Did wonder why additional ribbon cable was so long?

The ribbon has to go over the top and then come back on itself. The Gold connectors should be facing upwards as it inserts into the socket.

Now have nicely lit keys :)

You must have purchased a new one! The used one always have this bend in them from use.

I did that. Purchased from Ebay. In the North East of Scotland we have a lot of hours of darkness during the winter. Now I don't have to guess where the keys are. :)

I replaced the French Canadian version keyboard with 2 leads in my cf-30 with a N860-1435-T201/20 that has 3 leads and supposedly has backlight. The new one went in no problem and the keys work great but I can't get the backlight to work and there wasn't any instructions. Anyone know what key(s) to push or could it be a driver missing? I didn't see a keyboard setting in the bios.

No driver needed...you installed it wrong. The ribbon cable that is narrow needs to be flipped over and installed again . You have it upside down.

Read post # 2 , he did the same thing as you

Hey thanks toughasnails for that heads up and you were right I did install it upside down. Flipped it around and have a backlit keyboard now. The eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be but thanks for the guidance!
