Hello, I am new to the toughbook world. Having said that... I may be on here a lot with dumb questions.

So here I go.... Will a EMP-9701 mini pci card work in a CF-28?

    Thanks

It's a good card, but it needs 3 matched antennas to work in MIMO mode. With the magnesium chassis, we have enough trouble getting 2 antennas to work right in a CF-28. It WILL work with 1 or two antennas; but only in wireless G mode.

MIMO is a legacy technology already; consider it a "Pre-N" specification. Wireless N is the current WiFi standard; there are hardware differences that make it hard to upgrade to Wireless N standard with just a firmware update.

Bottom line; it's a lot of money for hardware that's probably going to be used in Wireless G mode anyways...
